About Knox
Hi! I'm Knox and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR KNOX
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/hSrN6ust2jE5AxK3A
NOTE: You are unable to meet Knox until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Knox in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• BREED KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• MUST be allowed inside with my family and be allowed to sleep inside.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• Lots of love and attention
• I can be shy at first so I need a family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• I havnt interacted with many other dogs before coming into the shelter so I can be unsure of how to behave around them although I seem happy to say a quick hello and continue walking! I will require a lot of positive socialisation with other dogs so that my behaviour improves and not deteriorates towards them.
• I appeared scared of cats when meeting them at the shelter however once my confidence around them grows I might be more inquisitive. If going to a home with a cat they must be dog savvy and we must be introduced slowly.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• other dogs - I don't mind passing them and saying hi when out and about but do become reactive shortly after that.
My best features:
• Very playful
• Wiggle butt
• I can sit
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• I walk well on lead
• Well mannered
• Love to snooze on the couch
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• • I can sometimes initially be shy and try to avoid things going over my head (lead etc). It doesn't take long for me warm up and my excitable & full of life nature to come out.
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
