About Davey
Davey’s personality:
Because of his past Davey can be a bit timid and fearful around humans at first but with patience and understanding he will be coming over to beg you for pats and scratches and love to be by your side. He is a big smoocher!! Davey is playful and loving with dogs that he knows and trusts but can be unsure of dogs that are strangers to him, so slow introductions are best. Davey loves his daily walks and stops to sniff everything possible! He is a big goofball who loves playing with his toys and will make you laugh out loud at some of his antics.
Davey’s ideal forever home:
Davey’s perfect home will have another similar sized dog who is playful and confident to help him settle in and show him how good life is. Davey is happy to be in the yard of a daytime while his people are at work but will need to be allowed inside also as he loves to curl up on his bed at night. Because of Davey’s size and playfulness a home with teenage children and no cats or pocket pets would be best. He will also need an owner who is strong enough to continue training a dog of his size and who is willing to commit to training/walking every day. Davey’s people need to be understanding of his past and have patience and buckets of love to give.
Davey’s story:
Davey was removed from an abusive household situation and came to his foster carers feeling broken hearted and like he had given up completely. He spent the first few days hiding deep under the house whenever his carers entered the backyard and would run and hide if they tried to touch him. With time, patience and love Davey has grown into a confident dog who loves his carers and follows them around wherever they go. Davey absolutely ADORES his foster siblings (a small terrier x and a medium cattle x) and looks to them for guidance and reassurance and because of this he will not suit a home where he is an only dog. Davey can be a bit unsure of the big wide world but enjoys walking the neighbourhood with many treat stops along the way. He is very food motivated and a quick learner!
Medical notes
Davey is a healthy doggo and has been vaccinated, and treated for fleas, ticks, heartworm and intestinal worms. Davey is now desexed and is ready and rearing to go!
