About Newt
Representing here the new it-girl Newt - this darling has cute wide yellow owl-like eyes, short ears and a slightly flattened nose. She swoons every guest, visitor and vet, as you can see straight through to her sweet soul.
Newt is not a vocal cat. However, she will let out a quiet ‘meow’ in the kitchen when she asks for food. Often this goes along with a very gentle nibble at your ankle to get you to give it to her faster.
She isn’t a big fan of being held and will wiggle away after a short time. However, she doesn’t say no to strokes and cuddles while together in bed or on the couch. Her favourite spot for scratches is the sides of her face. As she’s been awarded as the new it-girl, she is showing off her social skills at all times. She likes being in the same room as everyone else but also keeps her cool attitude intact and doesn’t climb all over you for attention.
Newt is a couch potato by day and a party cat by night. She then likes to be a little huntress, seeking out small flies or bats around ping pong balls, crumpled up pieces of paper or tin foil. There’s no need to spend money on expensive cat toys. Newt appreciates the simple things in life. When playing, she likes to play-fight but is always gentle. She’s not violent, and she never scratches. When she’s frightened, she may hiss to let you know she is a little scared.
This gorgeous girl is used to spending her time indoors, as she fears birds (especially the noisy miner birds). By all means, she does enjoy a small terrace to soak up some vitamin D during the day. Cat flap doors confuse her, so suggested is to leave a door open for her to come and go as she pleases. Newt is litter trained and has never had any issues with this.
Newt has always been the only cat. She has been tested with a cat-visitor, but she got terrified. For this reason, she would be best in an only-pet household. Small children also frighten her, but she should be OK with the calmer older ones.
Ideally, Newt will go to a calm household with a single person, couple or family with older kids, where she can be involved in their daily routine. She absolutely loves spending time around her human friends, and so her new household will make sure to include her. An outside area would be a bonus!
Medical notes
Newt has no medical illnesses or allergies, but she does get watery leaky eyes, especially in the wintertime. However, this is not related to any health issues, as confirmed by the vet. An occasional wipe will help her keep her eyes clean. As for dietary requirements, Newt is a very picky eater and will only eat fish or chicken flavoured cat food. She eats chicken flavoured dry cat food, which she will hardly touch unless it's a kind that is meant for a kitten. With wet food, she prefers fish flavour - but not grilled. She likes the pate ones and loves gravy. She is a happy girl when Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers, Fancy Feast Adult Royale, or Fancy Feast Adult Classic Seafood Patè Collection is on the menu.
Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s owner - the person who knows them best!
It’s a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
From here, the owner will be in touch with you to chat a bit more about their pet, and if they feel your home is the best fit, they will arrange a ‘meet and greet’ for you all to get to know each other.
Should this prove successful, arrangements will be made for the pet to move straight from its current home into yours upon payment of the adoption fee.
The adoption fee is paid directly to PetRescue (via a secure payment link), and assists us to continue to run and develop programs to assist pet owners, just like Home2Home.
Change of Ownership paperwork will be completed, vetwork history will be provided and your new family member will be snuggled on your couch in no time!
