About Bobby Sox
Bobby Sox
Our beautiful Bobby Sox is a 9 year old girl who was given up for a new pup. Poor Bobby was not a fan of a young bouncy pup but who wants an active toddler around when you are in the prime years. Bobby is a lover of people of all sizes and will become your shadow if you let her. She just loves to hang around humans all day long just resting near you while you work or go about your day
Bobby is only a small size Golden Lab weighing 26 kilos
Bobby is an affectionate girl looking for pats or belly rubs at any opportunity. She will be your constant companion if you let her but she is also content for short periods outside but we feel she needs more company than not so a home with a family around would be ideal for our girl
Bobby has moments when she likes to be active chasing or going for a walk but really prefers to lie on the carpet and watch the TV, or lie with her head on your lap.
OBEDIENCE
Bobby is a well behaved girl around the home but does not have a lot of training so will really only sit if you are holding food or putting her harness on. She does however know when you have told her off with a "No". Outside of the home she requires to be on lead when out and about as she has no road sense or recall. She is not destructive around the house like a young pup
ENRICHMENT
Bobby loves her walks. She will sit to have her lead and harness put on. Once she is out the door she will sniff at everything, bit like wanting to read a book cover to cover all in one day. She walks well on the lead but does like to keep ahead of you so may have some slight pulling at times. Being an older girls she does not need huge walks but to keep her slim and trim does need at least daily exercise
Bobby enjoys interactive food bowls, chasing the ball and sniffing out things in the garden so we would love a home with a bit of space for her.
If you are an avid gardener and enjoy the outdoors she will happily entertain herself by finding a stick to
destroy, roll a ball around or chase imaginary critters in the bushes while you potter around
SLEEPING
Bobby sleeps inside on her own in a sunroom on a couch. She sleeps well throughout the night but isnât really of a fan of bedtime as she really would prefer being with you instead so Iâm sure if you were looking for a furry bed hog she would be happy to oblige to a snuggle on the bed.
SOCIALISATION
We feel Bobby has never been socialised with other dogs so she does not know how to behave to play or meet other dogs who come up to her. She will at times walk past dogs without a problem but at times may pull towards them but she will snap at them if they come to say hello so Bobby is not a dog that would be able to go to a dog park. She would be best walked in areas with few other dogs. Bobby will need to be a only dog so please do not apply if you want two dogs or a puppy as it will not work. She sees humans as her pack.
FOOD
Unlike most Labs, she's not a big eater. She frequently will leave her dry food to nibble on later in the day. She does however like treat toys where she has to work to get a small morsel so this can be used as a distraction if you are out.
HYGIENE
When Bobby first arrived she did have a few accidents inside which often happens in a new home, if she has a doggy door or access to outside she will come in and out as she pleases.
TRAVEL/CAR
At first Bobby was hesitant of the car. She prefers to sit on the back seat so that she is not far from you and will happily put her head between the seats so she can get the odd head rub on her travels
IDEAL HOME:
Bobby is looking for a family that has someone home most of the day. She is a social girl so would fit well into family life with kids around her preferably over the age of 10 as we have not tested her with very young children
Bobby is not suited to a house with another dog or cats
Bobby comes with one of our adoption packs including
Lead,Harness,Travel bowl and Seat Belt safety
