About Wally
Wally is a 1 year old, 17kg gorgeous little Heeler x fella who is now seeking his forever home. Wally is a very happy and extremely affectionate gentleman. He can be a bit timid when exposed to new things but he quickly works the situation out and learns from his experiences. He loves nothing more than being touched and smothering you in kisses and licks. He has a number of quirks and traits that are true to the heeler breed. Some of these include; chasing birds and flies and sharing little gentle nips at your heels and finger tips. OBEDIENCEWally is a very intelligent boy who learns fast. He responds to his new name and is a master at sit, stay and wait. ENRICHMENTWally enjoys the best of both worlds. He enjoys being outside and will self-entertain himself brilliantly when you’re out. He doesn’t bark or jump on the doors or make a fuss to come inside. When inside, he has learnt to remain in his bed but he would be more suited to a home who is willing to let him have free run of the house. His favourite place is on the couch next to you watching tv.He has not had any accidents inside however he sleeps outside at night.Wally will also make an excellent guard dog and alert you when other dogs or people walk past the fence. Wally loves playing with his toys, but he gets more enjoyment when playing on his own. SLEEPINGWally sleeps outside undercover on his raised dog bed. He will sleep in his kennel from time to time but prefers his other bed more. He also doesn’t mind sleeping on the ground. SOCIALISATIONWally is required to be an only dog of the family. Wally will bark at other dogs even if they don’t bark at him. This behaviour is not perceived as aggressive but is still considered as ‘dog reactive’. Wally is extremely easy to walk. He doesn’t pull and due to his timidness, he constantly looks to you for reassurance and praise. Wally has no problem with people or strangers coming to the house and will welcome everyone with a happy wagging tail and a thousand licks. True to the heeler breed, he communicates through gentle nipping of your fingertips. It’s for this reason we believe he would not be suited to children under 12 years of age unless extremely dog savvy. He hasn’t been tested with cats and loves to chase birds. FOOD Wally is not too fussed on food. He will eat when he is hungry. He is currently being fed once a day at dinner time. He eats with manners and will sit before you say it’s ok to eat. He can tend to be a bit fussy with food if fed the same thing repetitively. Currently he is being fed dry food and Prime roll. TRAVEL/CAR Wally is very nervous of the car and requires being lifted in. Once in the car, he may tremble initially but will relax after about 10 minutes or so. We have found that windows all the way down cause too much noise which tends to stress him out more so windows cracked a little are best or alternatively the air con on. He doesn’t get car sick and remains in the one spot for most of the trip. He wears his seatbelt restraint without a fuss. IDEAL HOME:Wally’s ideal home would include:- A family who is looking for an affectionate companion who doesn’t mind a dog that licks them. - A family that will allow him inside on the couch when home.- A family with heeler breed knowledge is preferable but not essential- A secure yard - Daily walks to keep him stimulated and in good health. - An only dog home due to his dog reactive behaviour. - No children under 12 unless dog experienced- We have not tested him with cats so a no cat home please Wally comes with one of our adoption packs includingHarness.Lead.Travel bowl and seat belt safety
