Are you Belvedere’s Happy Ever After?

Belvedere is a handsome, intelligent boy who you can’t fail to fall in love with, but he does need your help with the next stage in his socialisation.

He has spent a lot of his life without meeting other dogs socially but with the help of a trainer, in a few short weeks he has progressed to walking beautifully with a loose lead halti and has learnt to ignore barking and high energy dogs.

He is learning how to introduce himself to dogs and we can walk through the local park with lots of exciting distractions and he trots along nicely. We have been practising walking side by side with other calm dogs that we meet, and he is doing really well.

He is not ready for off lead play and may never be with dogs he doesn’t know – not every dog is happy with bouncy, yappy uncontrollable dogs in their face after all. If an off-lead dog is important to you, don’t apply as this can’t be guaranteed.

With slow introductions to dogs in a calm backyard environment Belvedere has been learning his manners and where he is in a pack. With a patient new family who won’t rush him he will only continue to become more social.

Belvedere is a typical Staffy – loyal, needy and chatty. He adores all humans. You will know when he’s happy and he will let you know when he’s not with an impressive howl or two.

You will need to have a dog door. He is fine at home when you go out for a few hours but he hates to be locked outside. He will cry and howl for a while until he settles down and the neighbours will know he’s home alone if left outside. With a dog door, he will wait calmly by the front door for you.

Left alone on his own he’s not destructive and won’t go in search of food or toys. He will just wait for you to come home and then go to his treats.

During playtime he is a typical Staffy – he loves a wrestle and a growl and will get a bit mouthy but understands ‘gentle’. He loves his evening zoomies and has a funny playful manner. He never fails to make us laugh.

Belvedere has a lovely calm manner at home; he doesn’t react to the doorbell or knocks at the door and he’s been great in the car. He will defend his yard from birds but when out and about doesn’t react to birds or ducks. You can watch The Doghouse and Muster Dogs with him in the room too.

He is crate trained, house trained and happiest falling asleep at your feet anywhere and anytime..

Hobbies:
Playing with his tennis ball – he loves to be chased and will chew on it for hours. Cheapest, best dog toy Playing tug of war. Getting tummy rubs.
