About Tanner & Jasper St Clair
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html/
Tanner and Jasper are an adorable duo who have found themselves looking for a special forever home to continue their life’s journey. They are looking for an adult home, preferably with someone/people who are home most of the time as they do experience some separation anxiety. Both have come to us with some behavioural issues we are working on - reactive behaviour with other dogs and they adore you so much they aren’t too keen on sharing you with anyone else. Their new people will be experienced dog owners who have the time and patience to work with them as they relearn doggy etiquette.
Tanner is a protective boy – especially of Jasper (in a brotherly way). He is assertive, friendly and pays attention to everything in the house. Tanner is affectionate and the most caring little friend you could ask for. He just adores his humans, loves being close to you with plenty of cuddles and pats. Tanner is currently experiencing separation anxiety and we have found him to be quite reactive towards other dogs when out walking on the lead. Tanner is an obedient boy who listens well. He doesn’t like to share his food though and does need to be fed separately.
Jasper is dependent on Tanner. He is blind in one eye. Tanner helps calm him down when he is distressed or unsure. He is a smart cookie who is able to adjust to his environment really quickly considering his blindness. He is also experiencing separation anxiety. Jasper is placid, affectionate and gentle. He always wants cuddles and likes to be close to you. He has become quite attached to his foster carer and has become a bit possessive. Jasper listens and can come when you call for him and will sit when you ask. He walks well on lead, but his new people will need to be careful so that he doesn’t walk into poles or fences. Jasper has a friendly nature, but can be provoked by Tanner when out walking.
Both dogs are house trained, but like many male dogs will want to mark their territory. They travel well in the car. Jasper does need a hand in and out though due to his blindness.
A peaceful home with a simple layout, and a courtyard would be perfect for these boys. They really are special little souls who will tug at your heartstrings.
Currently untested with cats. These boys will be best in a home where they are the only pets.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
Medical notes
Jasper is blind in his right eye from a cataract. He will be visiting the eye specialist soon to see if anything can be done.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
If you are still interested, please download an application form from our website:

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
