About Dakota
Dakota is a gorgeous pocket rocket for her age. She weighs about 15kg and is full of personality. She is good with cats, children and other dogs out and about. She loves the park, the beach, and especially her daily walks , she lives for them and a good walk is no problem for her.
This special girl is ONLY looking for a home where she will be someone’s number one priority. Her new home will be a single dog home where her owners are either retired or genuinely and permanently work from home most of the time as she is a girl that loves her human company and whilst she can be left alone as needed, she dearly wants human companionship as much as on a full time basis as possible.
She is great to take out, she can be a bit Whiney in the car initially, but it’s just that she’s so excited to be going somewhere. She is not a lover of long car trips so she’s not suitable as a caravanning companion.
She does resource guard food and toys, another reason a single dog household is a better fit for her.
Knowledge and experience with the breed is a must as she displays typical Staffy behaviours which can be confronting for young children and nervous for other first-time dog owners. She definitely has a voice and barks when meeting new people and when she is excited. She is most vocal when she thinks she’s going for a walk (if I put on walking shoes or if I have her lead in my hand) or if we are heading to the car with her. She is not one to bark at people walking by the house or birds etc. She has a range of sounds which makes it easy to interpret her needs and wants and she has an endearing snore while sleeping.
She loves going for walks and is excellent on lead, although quite strong. She also has many tricks up her sleeve. She sits, shakes, high fives, knows “stop” before crossing and “cross” when moving across the road. She plays fetch and tug-of-war. She is house trained and will let you know when she would like to go outside. She has lived with access to inside and outside as she likes to sun bake and roll in the grass before heading inside for multiple naps on different soft surfaces. She would be happy in her bed beside yours or happier on your bed.
She absolutely hates having her nails cut. She doesn’t enjoy dog washes but will happily have a shower or bath at home. As a Staffy she does have sensitive skin. Oatmeal wash or other sensitive skin products are best used on Dakota.
Dakota is a wonderful companion and I have been blessed to be loved by her. She’s a very low maintenance dog just looking for the perfect home.

Animals are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention / and also FIV tested for cats where possible. They are not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). Please email par.adoptions@gmail.com if you would like further information.
Dogs and cats are rehomed on two weeks trial to ensure that both the person adopting them and the rescuer are satisfied that the dog / cat / animal is happy and adapting well to their new home and this can be extended on request
Please be aware that Paws and Recover is run by volunteers who also work. We endeavour to answer enquires as quickly as possible. Some animals will inevitably be very popular and will generate many enquires. Where there is a high volume of enquires received, it will be our priority to contact those that best fit the requirements of the animal. This may mean that it is not possible for all enquires to be answered. Please keep an eye on the website for all updates.
Providing quality information as a part of your enquiry including information about your home environment, family, work hours, other pets and what you are looking for in a companion animal along with what you can offer one will greatly assist.
Please always provide a contact phone number as a part of your enquiry.
