About Janga
the beautiful Janga is now seeking his forever home
This gorgeous boy is a little Staffy x boy who is short and stocky, weighing in at 28 kilos
He is full of energy and loves to run around and can spend hours playing with his toys outside. Once he is finishing playing outside, he loves to just relax as long as he is near you. Jenga canât get enough of human contact when he is resting and he has to be touching you in some way. From putting his head on your knee or foot to sitting right up close so that some part of him is touching you. He is very clever and adjusted into a routine very easily and settled well into our house with 4 adults. Jenga is more comfortable around males. While he has been in our care, he has never been left alone but we have however left him outside all day where he couldnât see us and coped very well.
Sometimes Jenga forgets that he is a chunky dog and tries to sit on your lap like a lap dog. He behaves when around other dogs.
Jenga is still learning his name ,but will come eventually after a number of calls. Jenga is house trained and will let you know when he needs to go out. However, we did leave a door open during the day for him to come and go as he needed. At night he will let you know when he needs to go outside and part of his night routine was to take him out just before bed.
Janga passed his dog test with flying colors. He was polite and happy to meet another dog. Based on this we would be happy for him to be homed with another dog but we seek a loving well socialised female of med to large
We have NOT tested Janga with cats
He has a tendency to jump up when he sees you, we have worked with him to reduce his attempts to do so. You will need to remain firm on this âNo Jumpingâ by walking away and managing his excitement levels. He has basic obedience and will do very well learning more. He also has the bad habit of being mouthy when relaxing, placing his mouth around a body part, (as if it is a dummy). For this reason Janga is not suitable to children of pre teenage years
We have been walking Jenga once a day for 30 to 40 mins a day. He is quite strong on lead and we have found keeping him short makes a big difference. Janga will need a confident experienced person to walk him as he does correct in with an experienced confident handler
ENRICHMENT
Jenga has great energy, he rarely barks, in fact the whole time he has been with us we have only heard him bark twice. He will sit or stand at a window or door if he senses someone arriving.
Janga loves toys and will happily play all day with them . He is particularly partial to his black kong chew bone so a home that can provide him lots of chew toys is essential
Jenga sleeps inside at night, he reminds me of a toddler trying to get them to sleep. He will get into bed then get up and have a drink, then get back into bed and settle for a few minutes then he will want to go outside, then when he comes back into bed he settles for a few minutes and then another drink. Once again back to bed and then he will check everyoneâs rooms to see that the humans are in bed. And then he will finally settle for the night, sleeping through the night. We have allowed Jenga to sleep on our bed or he will sleep on our son's bed.
Jenga has been a delight to care for and we feel that he will need to be placed with an active household, as we see him as a dog that we go with you everywhere, day trips, holidays and so much more. We also feel that Jenga would be a good tradies dog that can go on site with his owner. Jenga could be an inside or outside dog. But would probably prefer to be an inside dog with easy outside access, giving him the freedom to go about his day as he sees fit. Jenga is the best kind of canine companion and would love to live with a family that is happy to be firm and work further with him.
