🌿🧶 MEET MAVIS & BARNEY 🧶🌿
Nature
💜 Mavis - She is a confident girl who is easy going and happy to relax most of the day near her humans. Mavis will happily come to you for pats once she knows you well. She lives in a single person home. She is weary of new people but warms up to them fairly quickly as long as they are patient with her. She is very comfortable with her Foster Mum and likes to spend evenings sitting with her on the couch.
💙 Barney - He is still quite timid and still getting used to living with humans. He is still scared of most humans and feels safer in his own space spending most of his day in his safe spots. He spends most of his time with his fur-friend, Mavis. She is a great influence on him, helping him to become more confident. He likes to be in the same room with his humans if he is in his safe spot. Barney is OK with pats from his Foster Mum and while he loves them, he is still a little wary of hands. Barney has learnt from Mavis, and he now spends most evenings relaxing on the couch with their Foster Mum, he even allows pats from her. It will take a while for him to become comfortable with a new family but with patience, he will get there.
Barney and Mavis have a great relationship and they spend most of the day and night together. They like to sleep out in the sun in the cat enclosure during the day and sleep together at night on the couch. They also eat together and groom each. They are each other’s source of comfort.
Companions (Children, Cats & Dogs)
Barney and Mavis’ current home doesn’t have any kids. They would be best suited to a mature home with older kids that will respect their boundaries.
They also haven’t lived with any dogs in the past and would likely be better suited to a home with no dogs. They both love other cats though and would likely be fine with more cat friends as long as there is a slow introduction in place.
Likes / Dislikes
They both love dry food which they get in the evening. They also love wet food as well and they get one packet to share each morning. They are both currently on a prescription pet food which Barney must keep taking once he goes to his forever home. Their food is measured to make sure that they do not get too big. Barney is a fast eater and sometimes does not know when to stop so the cats get their food in small portions over a couple of hours to make sure that they both get to eat and to prevent Barney from eating too fast which can lead to him throwing up. This does not happen, as long as he does not get too much food at once.
Mavis loves to play and usually will sit in a specific spot when she is in a playful mood. Her Foster Mum tries to play with her most days. Barney will play with his human as well but only for a short burst. Mavis would play all day of allowed. She loves chasey games and playing with wand toys.
Barney does not like too much change and can become stressed when you change things too much. He likes to know what is happening and likes to know that his environment will stay mostly the same. He is OK with change if it introduced slowly.
Barney and Mavis have a secure outdoor enclosure in their foster home. They love being outside and whenever the weather is good, they are out there lounging and sleeping in the sun together.
They are very clean and use their litter tray perfectly. Barney can be picky with litter type but as long as you keep using what he has at his foster home, things will be fine.
Our PURR-fect home would be one where we happily live in each other’s company. We would most likely be fine with another cat as we are both very social cats. We would do well in a house with no young children, older children that can understand our boundaries would be OK. We will require our forever family to be patient with us while we settle in and get used to our new surroundings.
Perth Rescue Angels recommends all cats are indoor only, unless they have access to a secure cat enclosure.

Barney will need to be monitored for any signs of difficulty urinating, or blood in his urine. He may or may not require sporadic treatment for UTIs throughout his life, which may involve antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. Barney requires a prescription urinary diet only and needs to be encouraged to drink water.
