🌿🌼 MEET MAVIS & BARNEY 🌼🌿
Nature
💜 Mavis - She is a confident girl who is easy going and happy to relax most of the day near her humans. Mavis will happily come to you for pats, it does not take too long for Mavis to get comfortable with new people, as long as they let her come to them. She lives in a single person home and is very comfortable with her Foster Mum, she likes to spend evenings sitting with her on the couch. She will quickly adjust to a new home once she knows her people. Mavis loves her cat friend Barney but he is not as playful as she is, so she would love a playful cat friend to chase around the house.
🩵 Barney - He is still quite timid but has become very comfortable with his Foster Mum. She can pat him anytime and he spends most evenings on the couch sitting with her and Mavis. Barney is still more comfortable with cats than humans and will take time to get used to new people but once he trusts them, he will show his love. Barney loves food so whoever feeds him will soon become a friend.
Barney and Mavis have a great relationship, and they spend most of the day and night together. They like to sleep out in the sun in the cat enclosure during the day and sleep together at night on the couch. They also eat together and groom each other. They are each other’s source of comfort. Barney likes to mostly relax as opposed to Mavis who is more playful and active so if you have a cat that loves being chased by a playful cat, Mavis would love that!
Barney and Mavis have a secure outdoor enclosure in their foster home. They love being outside and whenever the weather is good, they are out there lounging and sleeping in the sun together.
Companions (Children, Cats & Dogs)
Barney and Mavis’ current home doesn’t have any kids. They would be best suited to a mature home with older kids that will respect their boundaries.
They both love other cats though and would likely be fine with more cat friends as long as there is a slow introduction in place.
They also haven’t lived with any dogs in the past and would likely be better suited to a home with no dogs.
Likes / Dislikes
They both love dry food, which they get in the evening. They also love wet food and they get one packet to share each morning. They are both currently on a prescription food, which Barney must keep eating once he goes to his forever home. Barney is a fast eater and sometimes does not know when to stop!
Mavis loves to play and usually will sit in a specific spot when she is in a playful mood. Her Foster Mum tries to play with her most days. She loves chasey games and playing with wand toys. Barney will play with his human as well but only for a short burst. Barney's Foster Mum uses food to get him moving. He loves to have his dry food thrown and he will run, grab it and eat it. We do this daily and Barney loves it!
Barney does not like too much change and can become stressed when you change things too much. He likes to know what is happening and likes to know that his environment will stay mostly the same. He is OK with change if it is introduced slowly.
They are very clean and use their litter tray perfectly. Barney can be picky with litter types but as long as you keep using what he has at his foster home, things will be fine.
Our PURR-fect home would be one where we happily live in each other’s company. We will require our forever family to be patient with us while we settle in and get used to our new surroundings. We would love more cat friends.
Perth Rescue Angels recommends all cats are indoor only, unless they have access to a secure cat enclosure.
