About Slinky
When it comes to unique dogs, Slinky is certainly one of a kind. I guess when one of your parents is a Wolfhound and the other a little Dachshund, you are always going to be a little bit different. It is hard to describe Slinky, other than to say, he is well named and a real one of a kind. In fact, everyone who sees Slinky laughs at his ridiculousness. From his dainty little Dachy face and soft ears to his looooooooooooong, solid, 20kg body, and his twisted, deformed legs, Slinky is a guy that will always turn heads. Slinky has a huge personality and is extremely friendly. He is the happiest, most social guy and he loves to run and play with other dogs.
Slinky has bowed legs. It is a common occurrence in some dogs and Dachshunds are unfortunately known for it. This occurs when one of the bones in the lower leg grows faster than the other, causing the bones to bow. Whilst there is expensive and difficult surgery that can sometimes be done, for Slinky, our vets do not believe that this is an option. The surgery involves cutting the bones, placing an external fixator in place and gradually bringing the bones back into alignment. Because Slinky has such a big body on such little legs, this surgery would probably be unsuccessful and make things much worse. As is, Slinky can do whatever he wants to. He can dig and run and do everything that any other dog can do.
Slinky loves all humans. He is such a social guy. He would do best in a home where his humans were home more often than not as he would prefer human company rather than waiting at home alone while his people were at work all day.
Slinky needs a home without cats or chickens
Slinky is a quirky boy who is looking for a family who are as much fun as he is.
