Honey

4-year-old Honey has impressed her foster carer so much with how well she’s settled into her new life and she’s ready to find her very own forever home.

Honey is friendly and as sweet as her name. She has a lot of love to give and loves lapping up the attention from her favourite humans. If there is a person’s arm to rest her head on, Honey is there!

She enjoys walks and carrying around her little Kong hippo. She also indulges in a rather adorable ‘quirk’ of picking up random human objects, carrying them daintily in her mouth and then dropping them when asked. No chewing, just carrying. How polite. She also fancies herself a fly-catcher (those pesky sky raisins!) but we don’t want to break the news to her: she’s not as successful as she thinks she is!

Questionable fly-catching abilities aside, Honey is a clever girl and making great progress with basic cues such as: ‘wait’, ‘off the bed’ (how rude, when she is just warming it up for her human!), ‘drop it’, and ‘come’, and her new home will continue her learning. Amazing Greys has lots of fun resources to help with this.

Honey is currently living as an only dog, in a house with a backyard where she can perfect her zoomies and chase her double-ended tennis ball. She also enjoys practices her ‘roaches’ and dedicates a lot of her time to the greyhound art of awkward sleeping. Her ideal home will have some yard space for her. However, we are happy to consider all homes provided she has sufficient exercise and enrichment.

Honey has been left home alone for short periods regularly and seems comfortable hanging out on her own. She does love human company though and would prefer a home where she is not regularly left alone for FT working hours.

Honey has not yet had much opportunity to socialise with other dogs however has been friendly with other greyhounds on walks. She doesn’t pay much attention to medium or large dogs, but small dogs and other small animals (birds, cats) catch her attention. Honey’s new carers will take socialisation with other dogs slowly and note that she is not small-dog friendly.
