About Orlando (nicknamed Ori)
*Located in Strathfield*
ABOUT OREO:
Oreo (nicknamed Ori) is a laidback, lazy, affectionate, intelligent, loving, social, and sweet cat! He would make the purrrfect companion to a loving family!
Ori is very affectionate; he loves being patted and getting chin scratches! He will make biscuits on your lap and cuddle up next you while you sleep.
Despite his age (and size), ori is still very playful! He loves to use his scratching pole, play with cat teaser wands and run through tunnels. He still acts like a naughty kitten and will often surprise “attack” the younger cats and us humans! He has a very cheeky personality.
Ori is pretty independent and is happy to do his own thing most of the time. He will be nearby you and come for occasional pats and love.
He is very friendly with visitors and when meeting new people. He is scared of excitable children (and young pets) and will often hide away like a grumpy old man!
He enjoys a quiet place to nap in the sun, during the day. He’s a bit sassy and vocal and will let you know what he wants. He hates getting wet, and will immediately come to his humans to be wiped down like a baby.
Ori will bond with one or two people and will stay with them. He will give them all his attention and love.

FOOD:
Ori has been living as an indoor/outdoor cat for part of his life. During that time, he adopted and tricked various families who all feed him thinking he was starving (lol). Due to this, he has grown overweight! He will need to be kept indoors and fed weight management food. He will also need a family that can commit time to play and exercise him, to lower his weight.
Due to his weight, we have had to get parts of his fur shaved, as he has not been able to groom himself properly.
IDEAL HOME:
Ori is very special to us, he is a very cheeky, cute, loving and sweet cat. Unfortunately, due to the other pets at the rescue cat crew home, he is getting stressed and hiding away! We would like to find him a home where he can spend his time without having little kittens jumping all over him! He would happily live in an apartment/home with a single person, couple or family with older children. He sometimes plays rough, so he would be better suited to adults.
Ori has always been very closely bonded with humans. He has lived with a family since he was a kitten. He is very used to people and very friendly with new people generally!
SUITABILITY TO OTHER PETS:
Ori has lived with multiple cats, kittens and dogs.
At the moment, Ori is only social with a similar aged female cat. He sometimes will socialise with younger cats and kittens, however, he does tend to get annoyed easily.
Ori does get anxious around other pets. He would be happy being an only cat, or in a home where he can have his own space and attention.
Medical notes
Ori has had all vet work completed up to date. This includes desexing, vaccinations, dental check, health check, blood tests. She had dental surgery in 2019.
His last vet visit was 10 March 2022 at Inner West Cat Hospital. During this visit it was discovered that Ori has mild grade patella luxation and arthritis in one leg. He will require anti-inflammatory/pain relief medication, from time to time. This doesn’t affect his ability to do any normal cat activities.
He is fully litter trained.
Ori has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus but is asymptomatic (meaning he has no symptoms)
- FIV is known to be carried by approx 20% of cays in Australia.
- it’s less serve than HIV in humans, and definitely not transmissible to people.
- the virus affects the immune system, leaving FIV+ cats more vulnerable to infections and disease.
- if an FIV+ cat gets injured or ill, they may take longer to recover than most cats, and could need a little extra TLC
• FIV+ cats generally don’t require ongoing medication or much extra care.
• An FIV cat that’s kept indoors (or with access to a outdoor enclosure), fed a good quality diet, and taken to the vet at least once a year for checkups, can enjoy a normal lifespan of over 15 years!
