NOTE: You are unable to meet Artie until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Artie in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.

What I need in my new home:
• I will be very shy at first so I need a family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time. For this reason I can't go to a home that has young children as they may accidently scare me. Older children who understand I may take awhile before I'm confident and playful.
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• To be allowed inside with my family
• I appear more confident when I'm with another dog, so I'd love to go to a home that already has a friendly and playful dog who will help me grow into the best boy I can be.
• A cat may be ok with a slow introduction.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence

Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me.

My best features:
• Highly food motivated
• Gentle & placid
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans, once I feel comfortable with you.
• Happy to hang out with other dogs
• Well mannered
• I walk well on lead but having daily walks should help me improve my lead skills

Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
• I appear to be quiet vocal at times when left alone - a family who has a lot of time for me, allow me indoors and leave me with lots of mental enrichment when home alone is recommended or to have a doggie friend to keep me company
