About Dusty St Clair
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html/
Please note: Dusty adores other dogs and will be rehomed with a canine friend. Don't have another dog? Mylee Polkington, (who is also available for adoption) and Dusty have lived together and had a great time.
Dusty is such a sweet, intelligent dog and look at him with his Brad Pitt looks. Dusty’s progress in one month is amazing. He started off very timid with people, he was pulling on the leash out walking, he was scared of the doggy door and knew no commands at all. He has always greeted other dogs nicely and that has continued. Whether big or small he will approach another dog slowly and calmly. Now Dusty’s confidence with strangers has grown, he’s still cautious but has started greeting strangers out on walks asking for a pat. He bounds through the doggy door with the greatest of confidence. His foster carer says he is a joyful dog companion, gentle and fun with a lovely nature that makes her laugh a lot with his antics.
Walks? Yes please, he loves them, he’s a bit of a couch potato and could manage with one walk a day but currently he’s taken on two walks a day. He tries to jump into his harness. He’s gone from pulling on the leash with no focus to walking beside his carer and now they’ve started walking him with their other dog and he loves sharing his walk. If there is a really loud noise that gives him a fright he will pull on the leash and then settles.
Dusty’s carer works from home and Dusty happily sleeps all day close by in their office. From not knowing any commands, Dusty now knows how to sit, waits to be invited on the lounge, sits and waits before eating his food, walks nicely and is currently learning the drop command. He’s very eager to please.
He has his wobble that the carer says isn’t a problem she finds it endearing. She sees Dusty being an awesome family member however perhaps not suited to little children. Not because of temperament but he tends to flick his head back sometimes and may potentially knock over a small child.
Dusty is playful, out in the yard he does zoomies past the other dog to try to get him to play. He’ll bound around his carer trying to get her to play out in the yard. He loves a cuddle. His foster home has a lot of plants which he leaves alone, he’s not a chewer.
Want an affectionate, beautiful natured, fun dog that loves playtime and walks but also happy to chill out? Able to continue building confidence and finishing training for Dusty? Please fill out the application!
Thank you to Kate of Kate Stavrov Photography for the fantastic photos of Dusty.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
If you are still interested, please download an application form from our website:

The application form must be emailed to us:
adoptions@victoriandogrescue.org.au
Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.

We appreciate our sponsors and all our donors so much, as without them we would not be able to save the pets we do, or run our programs that reach into the community to give a helping hand. Are you able to donate, sponsor or want to leave a bequest?
