About Dotti ~ 2yo Staffy X (On Trial 22/6/22)
PLEASE NOTE: Dog Rescue Newcastle provide individual listings specific to each foster dog that comes through our doors. Each listing outlines the specific requirements, and home that we are looking for. Should you submit an application OR inquiry and NOT receive a response within 5 business days (Monday-Friday), please understand that you have not met the specific requirements of the foster carer and will not be proceeding to the next stage. Please do not be disheartened or discouraged if you do not receive a reply, this simply means you were not a suitable match at this time. Dog Rescue Newcastle reserve the right to not reply to unsuitable applicants and will not tolerate bullying, intimidation or harassment of our volunteers
Meet Dotti, she's a 2yr old white Staffy X. Dotti is a very affectionate dog and loves nothing more than being right by your side. She will greet you with abundant chatter letting you know how happy she is to see you if you have been out. She will jump up with excitement if she has been left for the whole day, but this settles quickly with a pat, hug, and your continued presence. Dotti has had some big changes in her young life and needs reassurance to help settle into a familiar routine in a new environment.
A home that welcomes her inside as part of the family would be ideal. Dotti has been sleeping inside on her bed, only waking once to take herself out to toilet as she currently has access to a doggie door and then coming back inside, rising only when she sees you are awake. She will also chill out on her bed for a rest during the day. She is not interested in chewing on anything besides a nice brisket bone, so can be left inside while you are out if a doggie door is available to go outside when needed.
Dotti loves her food and needs to be reminded to sit and wait for her bowl to be filled before she eats and is best with a feeding bowl that will slow her down. A muffin tray has helped with this. She likes going in the car and usually sits/lays quietly on the back seat after some initial excitement. She is generally not interested in chasing balls or playing with toys but those with squeakers will excite her. She is inquisitive of her reflection, and people and of course dogs on the TV.
Dotti enjoys walks; starting off at a brisk pace so she does pull on the lead a bit but settles down and checks out her surroundings. She is not interested in sniffing every pole or tree. She doesn’t react to loud noises like motorbikes and has no understanding of the dangers of cars passing by. When walking, she generally ignores other dogs until they bark at her, and she will respond in same but quieten as soon as you pass their house. Dotti has been found to be reactive to a dog up close so would best suit being any only dog at this point of time. Dotti will chase lizards or birds in the yard like most dogs. She has not been tested with cats so best to be an only pet. She has spent time in the presence of a young child under supervision and does not appear to be bothered by them.
Dotti loves the company of her favourite human the most and likes to sit beside them whenever possible. As a young dog she would suit someone who works from home or who does not leave her home alone all day, at least not very often. Dotti is generally content to relax at home but will bark at unfamiliar noises outside the house. Dotti has an unknown past except that she has had a litter at some stage. After having lived part of her life in the pound she deserves the best you can give her, and in return you will be rewarded with a loyal, affectionate companion.
