PLEASE NOTE: Dog Rescue Newcastle provide individual listings specific to each foster dog that comes through our doors. Each listing outlines the specific requirements, and home that we are looking for. Should you submit an application OR inquiry and NOT receive a response within 5 business days (Monday-Friday), please understand that you have not met the specific requirements of the foster carer and will not be proceeding to the next stage. Please do not be disheartened or discouraged if you do not receive a reply, this simply means you were not a suitable match at this time. Dog Rescue Newcastle reserve the right to not reply to unsuitable applicants and will not tolerate bullying, intimidation or harassment of our volunteers
Meet Archie! Archie is a sweet natured, playful staffy x mastiff looking for a forever home just as loving as him!
Archie is only 3.5 months old so although he’s learnt basic skills and commands, he still needs some nurturing to get him across the finish line. He is very good at registering his name and is almost there with sit, come, staying while you place his dinner. We are starting to enforce not jumping due to the size he will grow into however he will need positive reinforcement on this as he gets comfortable with his new family.
Archie has been living as an inside dog with the opportunity to be on the furniture however he is more than happy to pop in his own bed and is young enough to adjust to a different attitude regarding furniture. He is housetrained with only a few accidents every now and
then. He is charming with his puppy dog eyes and loves being in your company. Archie may take a little bit to warm up to another dog but once he does, he can’t bear to be away as he has had a companion consistently since birth so a household with another dog to keep him company is a must! Toys to keep him learning and prevent unwanted chewing or negative behaviour are a necessity.
Although he loves company, he is also very independent and will regular pop himself outside to laying the sun or play in the grass. Archie is currently in foster care with a 7yo female German ShortHaired Pointer who he adores, he also lives with cats and although he has an interest and would love to play with them, he has learnt when to leave them be and not hassle them.
Archie hasn’t been taken to the dog park yet due to his young age and requirement of his
second vaccination however he is very curious and already has such a love for chasing the ball in the back yard so there’s no question that he’ll become a regular after his second vaccination, he will need a big, fenced backyard to explore. Lead training is commencing this week. Loves a good car trip and will fall asleep almost immediately!
Archie is the perfect family member for an active person/family that will include him in their plans and treat him as a member of the family and be willing to spend the time with him to help him adjust and be comfortable enough to come out of his shell, he had a rough start to life so needs a lot of love and patience. The reward of his trust, cuddles and wake up kisses makes it all worth the effort! He is a beautiful boy that will steal your heart.
As Archie is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to a local vet for desexing when he is approximately 6months old. Please NO out of area applications.
Archie is currently living in the Newcastle NSW region and is not available for interstate or out of area adoption. For more information, please contact Rhianna on rhiannamolloy@hotmail.com
Archie’s adoption fee is $700.00, his adoption fee includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and he has been treated for fleas and worms. If you are interested in adopting Archie, please fill out the adoption application form here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
PLEASE NOTE: When applying for our dogs and puppies, please ensure to list the name of the dog you wish to adopt. Please do NOT just list the reference number or the microchip number as this will delay your application reaching the correct foster carer.
