Then continue reading!!
Storm Girl has come out of her shell SOOOOO much in these last 4 weeks. She is a completely different little girl to the one who first walked in my front door.
Storm is a true people pleaser, she hates being in trouble.
Stormy is currently in care with kids aged 6 and up that she absolutely adores!! I can definitely say that kids bring out the best in her. She can get a bit over excited and jumpy, but she does settle down quickly.
She is a serial kisser, you'll get hello kisses, goodbye kisses, oh your sitting down kisses, can I have a taste? Kisses.
Unfortunately you get used to it and it becomes a part of life ??
She is a smoochy couch potato and gives the most amazing cuddles.
Stormy is quite timid for a Kelpie, she can get spooked easily by loud sounds. She's very cautious in new surroundings and of new people. I've never let her off the lead because of this, if she does get spooked she does try to bolt.
She hasn't been tested with cats, but she did try and chase the neighbour's cat. I don't think she would hurt them but they look pretty fun to chase!! Because of this we will say no to cats.
OBEDIENCE
Stormy knows her basic sit, stay and no.
She is very food driven, there is so much more for her to learn.
ENRICHMENT
Stormy loves her daily walk, we go every morning! She loves toys and balls. She's very good at keeping herself entertained. She will chew a teddy until that squealer is destroyed.
I usually leave her out to chew while we are out of the house, otherwise you might lose a shoe ???????.
SOCIAL SKILLS
Stromy is quite afraid of other dogs so does bark and growl at them on viewing and meeting
When we did her dog testing we found she is easily distracted by treats to re focus while other dogs are passing her
We did find that using a submissive dog during the test that after some time and in a quiet and controlled area we gradually were able to have Storm and the other dog side by side very camly using treats to focus and reward her for not reacting
Based on this we feel Stromy requires a dog free home and her social skills require working on during walking
SLEEPING/TOILETING
Stormy sleeps through the night, on her bed or the couch, I'm almost certain she wouldn't say no to a nice comfy human bed.
She's 100% toilet trained and she will hold on till you let her outside. She will often let you know by walking over to the door.
FOOD
Did you say food? Stormy isn't fussy at all... She will try anything and everything!!
She's currently on a diet of dry food, we are trying to help her lose those lockdown kgs.
TRAVEL
She's perfect in a car, she will either go to sleep or look out the window and watch the world go by.
IDEAL HOME
Our ideal home for Stormy would be a family lifestyle, with someone who has the time and patience to work on her ongoing training and build up her confidence.
Kids are fine as she adores them but they must be kind and gentle with some dog experience
A home where she is an indoor dog
A home where her family is home more often than not
A home that are willing to work on her dog social skills while out walking
Stormy comes with one of our adoption packs including
Harness.Lead. Travel bowl and seat belt safety
