About Isobel ~ Dachshund X Mastiff
Hi My name is Isobel, I am a female 9 week old Dachshund/mastiff mix puppy and I am looking for my forever home. I’m still quite young but I love to run and play with my brother and new foster doggy friends in a lovely big yard. My brother and I love our toys and play wrestle each other to see who wins the toy first before the chase begins. As you can see we are both mega cute, I’m just a little tiny girl but I’ve got plenty of spunk and personality.
I love a good treat and I like my food but I’m not a huge eater because of my size. I love to wrestle with my brother but I’m more slender than him which means I can run faster when he chases me. I’m not fussed on loud noises they scare me a bit, I have a big personality in a little body and don’t like being left alone for long periods of time or in a big yard alone, this is usually when I bark a bit.
I am currently sleep in a crate with my brother at night time. I am toilet training and I like going outside on the grass but will still need more training for when I’m inside. I love to have a snuggle with my people (I think this is the dachshund in me).
I like children, but my teeth are still a bit sharp, I’m going to be a medium size when I grow up and at the moment I zing around so fast I can trip children over so I think I should be adopted to a family with children over 8 years old, or someone that had a lovely little fur companion for me to play with would be ideal as I love my foster play mates.
Before applying for me I have some questions for you to consider:
-Have you owned a dachshund before and know all their traits and limitations like not being able to jump off lounges/beds with their delicate backs.
-Have you considered any extra medical bills that might arise with the dachshund/mastiff mix.
-Have you thought about loving and caring for me for the next 12-15 years - maybe even longer ?
-I am a furever dog not just a COVID dog
-I won’t be a small puppy for long and will get up to mischief as I become a teenager. Are you ready for that?
-Have you thought about my extra puppy meals throughout the day?
-Will somebody be home more often than not to keep me socialised?
-I will most likely be able to squeeze through small gaps so do you have solid fencing (5-6 foot) to keep me safe?
-Have you thought about my ongoing physical training and mental stimulation (enrichment games) so that I don't get bored and destructive?
-Will I have access to inside at all times to ensure that I am a part of your family?
I'm watching and learning from you from the moment I open my eyes.
I’ve been practicing my toileting, come and recall to my name and love getting little rewards. I like being inside for a snuggle but love being outside to run around and play with lots of chew toys. Being under supervision means I learn boundaries (crucial as I grow older) and means I am less likely to develop nuisance behaviours due to boredom.
