Calais is a lady, she is well mannered, gentle and affectionate. She is an intelligent girl who loves to go for walks and play with her ball but also likes to curl up and relax with her family. She is not typical of a working dog breed in that she is able to just relax. Calais is friendly with other dogs and is generally submissive. She loves cuddles with her family, rides in the car, sun baking, she is content indoors and outdoors but likes to be with her people.
She can happily occupy herself but hasn’t been left alone for long periods of time. We have left her alone a few hours but think she would be happiest with company, as she can yell out to the neighbours if left for too long. She is house and crate trained.

Calais knows to go to the bathroom on command and is also familiar with sit, stay and bedtime. She is not a guard dog, but she will let you know if the neighbouring MAMIL is out the front in lycra, or if there is a boyfriend hanging around in the street.
We have not had Calais near young children but her gentle nature suggests she would be ok with older children. She knows she is not allowed on indoor furniture, she walks/ heels very well and is well behaved at home. Not tested with cats.
