About Toby ~ 8mo Fox Terrier X(On Trial 19/2/22)
Toby is an 8 month old Fox Terrier Cross, weighing 8.5kg. These dogs are typically very friendly, fearless, energetic and outgoing. He is charming and super friendly with a gentle nature that will win you over immediately.
He is typical of his breed and needs someone to enjoy walking and/or running him. He is most happiest when given companionship and a lot of exercise. Games and adventures are also essential to keep him stimulated and happy. He is very attentive and will look you in the eye to try to understand your conversation. He does enjoy down time as well, and gives the most incredible cuddles as he snuggles into you on the lounge day or night.
He enjoys his 30 minute morning and afternoon walks. He is strong on the lead and will need more training in that regard, and we recommend that training classes be adopted. He is in the process of learning to come, sit and not to jump up, and will sit for his dinner. He will need interesting toys and games to play and chew on and activities to prevent unwanted behaviour.
He loves to meet other dogs and if they are up to it will play and wrestle. We take him for runs on the beach on a long rope which gives him the freedom to run with the bigger dogs.
A large fenced yard would be ideal which would allow him to run and explore and satisfy his urge to hunt.
He has no issues travelling in the car where he is very relaxed whilst secured on the hammock in the back seat.
He is not tested with cats, but he does love to chase anything that moves quickly. Toby shares our house with a 2 year old gentle female where his rough play is sometimes not tolerated by her. He would benefit from living with a dog who is big enough and happy to enjoy his playfulness.
He sleeps inside in his crate at night and is fully house trained.
Toby is the perfect companion for an active/busy family/person, or active, fit more mature people, who would be willing to give him all his necessary requirements and continue with his training. He is too rough and energetic for children under 12, and not suitable for the first time dog owner.
He is relatively low maintenance. Just brush once a week with a firm brush to minimise shedding.
This little boy will return the love and devotion in bucket loads and will become an awesome part of your family. He is not the breed for you if you expect him to sit on the couch all day.
For more information on Toby please contact his foster carer Vicki on their email vickivalo119@gmail.com, Toby is in foster care in the Newcastle Region NSW and is NOT available for adoption interstate.
