About Dougal
** MUST go to a home with a small calm and well-adjusted canine companion.
** not for interstate adoption.
** Applications by email only NO PHONE CALLS please.
This little guy is a happy chappy who you’ll fall in love with as soon as you meet, you can’t look past his fun-loving personality and stunning good looks. He is friendly and sociable around dogs and people and always wants to say hello when he’s out and about. He is very easy-going and adaptable and in foster care, he has enjoyed walks at the park, trips to the coffee shop, and outings to Bunnings - he takes everything in his stride. Dougal must go to a home where these daily adventures will continue.
He warms up to people quickly and once you become his people, he likes to stay close, following you around the house and checking out what you’re doing.
Dougal likes helping with housework, he absolutely loves socks. If there’s any left around, he will happily pick them up and potter around the house carrying a sock and then find a nice place to hide the sock!
Dougal loves his comforts, enjoying spending most of his day napping on the couch beside you. He likes to sleep in your bed. He would really like it if people were home more often than not and MUST go with another calm friendly doggy pal for company for those times when his owner cannot be with him.
He is happy around kids but would probably be best suited to older children 10+.
Dougal is heartworm positive and currently undergoing treatment. During that time he requires exercise restriction so will need someone happy to bring him out for his daily adventures in a pram over the next few months. Once his treatment is over Dougal will need longer daily walks.
Dougal must have access inside at all times and uses a doggie door to access the garden and is toilet trained, taking himself outside independently as needed. Of course, his new home will be a new environment so Dougal must be set up to succeed with his housetraining and his carer can give you advice in this regard if needed.
If you would like to meet Dougal please send us as much information on the home you can provide Dougal including yourself and other family members (if any), other dog/s and any other pets, how often Dougal would be alone, where he will have access in the home, where Dougal would go if you went away and could not take him with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide so that we may see if Dougal is a suitable fit for your home
Medical notes
As indicated in his profile, Dougal has tested positive for heartworm and will need to continue with the treatment for another three months. His new family will need to commit to bringing him back to our rescue vets at Beverly Hills twice monthly for his treatments and follow our vet's advice regarding exercise
The cost of this treatment will be at our expense provided Dougal
