About Eddie
This beautiful young lady has begun the search for her forever family, and has taken all of our hearts hostage!
Miss Eddie got her name from the street that she was found on just before Christmas - found with a fractured hind leg, a very swollen ear, and ringworm the poor girl!
Eddie got her Christmas miracle and we got to work getting her fit and healthy again! Read some more about Eddies' health in her Medical field. Also, a slight TikTok superstar be sure to find us on there to see her videos from December!
Now that Eddie is at the end stage of ringworm treatment it's time to start searching for her special family!
A sweet girl, Eddie loves nothing more than the creature comforts that a kitten craves; Play, Chasing toys, good food, and good snuggles. She would get along well in a home with other friendly pets too.
Eddie will go to her new home up to date with flea, tick, and worming treatments as well as desexing, microchip, and vaccination.
Medical notes
Miss Eddie sure has had a tough start, but she is one of the bravest troopers that we have met!
Eddie came to us with a fracture to her hind leg, which has been surgically amputated. After two life-saving blood transfusions, she has recovered so well from this and has learned very quickly to be a three-legged kitten.
Eddie also developed an Aural Hematoma, which is a build-up of fluid in the ear. This has been surgically opened, drained, and healed, leaving scarred cartilage to minimise the risks of this reoccurring. This is a more common condition in dogs than cats, however, Eddie has also recovered well from this!
Miss Eddie has also been through a tough battle with a fungal skin infection known as ringworm. Ringworm is a pesky skin infection that is caused by a group of fungi called dermatophytes that feed on keratin in skin, hair, and nail tissue. We most commonly see ringworm in kittens, mainly strays that have been rescued. The typical appearance is patchy areas of hair loss with scaly skin, especially around the head, face, and feet.
The ringworm fungus does not always result in an infection. The amount of environmental contamination is an important factor in the development of a ringworm infection, as is the age of the exposed person or animal. Healthy adult humans are usually resistant to infection unless there is a break in the skin such as a scratch. Elderly people, young children, and adults with immune system weaknesses or skin sensitivities are especially susceptible to ringworm infection.
What a brave girl!
We don't foresee any ongoing complications for this gorgeous girl once she is cleared of her ringworm, and we are estimating another fortnight for her to be able to go to her new family.
