About Boris
*boris is currently trialling his new home* meet boris, he’s an adorable little clown who loves everyone and everything!!! he’s looking for a new beginning in a home that’s experienced with the scent-hound breed of dogs. We’d not long rescued cleo the basset hound x pup when we noticed this little guy appear on the pound website. He’d been picked up by the ranger after he’d been found wandering mildura’s streets but his owner never came to collect him so we knew we had to step in and save him too. Our vets are fairly certain boris and cleo are littermates and so are we. Named after my fave basset plush toy from when i was a kid boris has the softest coat and enjoys cuddles as well as games with toys and always has a doggy-grin on his adorable face. Despite his age he already walks well on a lead and he’ll be learning the basics such as “sit” and “down” while he’s in foster care. As boris is still a puppy he will require ongoing obedience training so he grows up to have lovely manners. Boris will require a securely fenced yard with plenty of shade as well as a daily application of sunscreen particularly in the summer months so that the pink skin on his nose and eyes don’t get sunburnt. Daily walks and toys to keep him stimulated are also a necessity so he doesn’t get bored. Boris will also benefit from ongoing socialisation with other dogs. Basset hounds are usually a large dog on short, stumpy legs weighing from 20-29kgs when fully grown but only a foot in height to the withers. They are 2nd only to the bloodhound with their sense of smell and shouldn’t be allowed off leash unless they’re in a safe place as once they’re onto a scent there’s no stopping them! the basset hound is sweet, gentle, devoted, peaceful and naturally well-behaved. They fit into family life well and are affectionate and especially friendly with children. Basset hounds can be a bit stubborn with meek owners and need a firm, confident, and consistent owner who displays natural leadership skills. Bassets also like to do tricks for food but don’t overfeed them!
boris would be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle with either a doggie companion to learn from or on his own if he won’t be left alone for long periods of time especially while he’s a pup. If you know the breed and reckon you’ve got the time, patience and love to bring up boris the basset hound cross then please contact sarg for an application now!!
Medical notes
Boris is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and wormed. Weight: 10kgs (as at 5/11/10)
