About Bear
Hi my name is Bear I am a Chihuahua x Pincher – I am only little standing from ground to middle of my back at a big 27cm! I weigh 3.5kgs and I am 3 years and 6 months old.
I am an energetic and cheeky boy who loves to follow you around and always keep up with the action. My foster parents say that I am an intelligent little guy and I love learning new tricks with them. They say I am a fast learner!
One of my favorite things is playing outside with a ball or a toy and I am really good at fetch! I would love if you had a backyard where I can run around. Although I have lots of energy, I don't mind if we don't go on a walk everyday as I much prefer playing at home with you and my toys and balls. I also love trying to catch flies - sometimes I am even quick enough to get one!
My foster parents tell me that I am good at walking on a lead however I can be a little intimidated by other dogs when I am on my walks and I will let them know by barking at them. I can be shy meeting new dogs and people, but when I have some time to warm up to them, my foster parents say I am a friendly and quirky character and I make them laugh a lot.
I am only small but I am great at jumping, and so that I can get the best view possible of everything that's going on, I will often jump up on the couch cushions or even on your shoulder if you let me! My foster parents are amazed at how well I can balance!
I would love to be your only dog, as I have a lot of love to give and I am happy on my own, but with some time and some guidance, I can also get along with another dog. My foster sister is a French Bulldog and I was a little scared of her at first, but now that we are friends, one of my favorite things is to run around the back yard and I chase her or she chases me. I'm very quick and we love to play! I like hanging out and playing with older kids too who give me space when I need it.
My foster parents say I am toilet trained but I can get nervous in a new environment and might have a little accident on occasion.
I am not cat friendly
I love to sleep next to you on the couch while watching TV, or on your bed but I also love sleeping in my crate. My foster parents say I am very well behaved in my crate - the best-behaved dog they have ever seen! My crate is my safe space, and sometimes I will sneak away in there for a nap or to relax when there is a lot going on at home and I need some of my own space. I'll happily sleep in my crate all night without making a peep!
My foster parents work from home and I like to sit with them during the day. While I prefer to be around them, I don't mind chilling at home when they go out.

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 2 week trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 2 week trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
