About Eric
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS -- INDOORS ONLY -- NO KIDS -- OTHER PETS CONSIDERED
This funny little dude came to the RSPCA as a stray after being found in a giraffe enclosure at the Canberra Zoo! Eric is a sweet and gentle soul but he appears to have had a bit of a tough life so far and wasn't given a lot of reasons to trust people so he spent time in foster care learning to let his guard down and just enjoy life! He is now a beautiful house resident, finding the comfiest spots (on chairs, beds, couches and cat trees), has had no issues at all using his litter tray and is just overall a very good boy! Eric loves other cats and is gentle and polite with them, he will also happily play with other cats if they are up to it. A bit of pushover, he had to be locked in his own room at feeding time as he would happily let the resident cat steal his food! He has been in foster care with small dogs and after an adjustment period (he found them a bit scary at first), he now has no problems living with them.
Eric has met visiting children but he was quite scared of them. He hides from visitors and new people so he will need to go to a home that is understanding that he is a shy boy. Eric takes time to trust his people but when he is comfortable he loves pats and purrs like a lil truck. He loves rolling around while getting he's pats and rubs. He prefers being in control and having his feet on the floor. It doesn't look like he encountered toys in his life (he doesn't yet understand what people mean when wave around wand toys and so they worry him). He is not exactly high-energy and is more into hanging out on his favourite chairs. Eric had bad teeth when he came to the shelter so had to have a big dental and is now missing quite some teeth but is fine eating his food and will gently take treats and kibbles from your hands. He is quite vocal when he wants attention and likes having a chat with his human friends. Because he is a timid dude, Eric really needs that special person or people that will take him where he is at, take the relationship slowly and put time into building his trust. He would be very happy to live with another cat friendly cat. Eric needs to be strictly an indoor cat (shady cat run welcome) as he is likely to hunker down hiding if he gets out, and his pale skin is susceptible to the sun. Eric just loves the idea of having his own forever home where he can spend his days relaxing, eating good food and being loved and cared for!
