About Beretta
*In foster care in Newtown, Sydney*
Beretta's exuberant love for life knows no bounds! Everything is exciting for this tiny tank - going for a walk, chewing a tennis ball, having her peeps at home with her - and she has a large spectrum of funny little sounds she makes to help express her enthusiasm :)
And don't let her age fool you - Beretta may be eight years old, but she's definitely still a puppy in spirit! This absolute sweetheart will bring a smile to your face with every crazy jump or wriggle.
If she has a flaw, it may be her penchant for licking. Beretta's foster parents have been working on this, but her new owners will probably need to prepare for the reality that (a) she'll try to lick your feet and legs any chance she gets, and (b) it'll take time and patience to get this 'character quirk' under control!
Like all Maggie's pets, Beretta is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... will be with a person or couple who'll fully appreciate my big personality! Someone who has past experience with Staffies would be a great match.
I'll need lots of outdoor space to play and run, and heaps of toys to keep me entertained. It's important for my sense of security and wellbeing that I'm allowed to be a fully fledged member of the family - which means being inside with you when you're home, and (ideally) sleeping inside at night.
I'm really good at sensing the energy of whatever's happening around me - when my foster parents are chilling out, I'll take the opportunity to have a snooze or make my own fun out in the the yard. But when they're moving, so am I - and often with more enthusiasm than, for example, walking from one room to another usually warrants ;)
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Off the charts! But being allowed to hang out with my foster parents as much as I want helps to keep me calm and relaxed. I was a bit of a digger and chewer in my last home, but I think that's because I was frustrated and unhappy about living in the backyard.
I love to go on walks - but I had ACL surgery on one of my legs four years ago, so I shouldn't be over-exercised. A 20-minute walk around the neighbourhood is generally perfect for me. And if I'm getting a bit too hyped up in the backyard, you might need to take the tennis ball away or bring me inside for a snuggle so that I don't overdo it :)
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Because I don't really know my own strength when I get excited, and also don't enjoy being touched without warning, I'm looking for adult owners only.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I haven't shown much of a reaction to other dogs while out on walks - at most I might sniff them briefly before moving on. But I've never lived with a dog before, so it's hard to know how that might go.
Unfortunately I won't be suitable for a home with any resident cats, as I find them far too interesting for their liking!
Medical notes
Beretta had ACL surgery on one of her legs four years ago, so it's important that she isn't over-exercised. She loves to go for walks but tends to get tired - especially in warm weather. Her foster carers have found that around 20 minutes is a good amount of time for her walk.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
