About Jack ~ Cattle Dog X Puppy(On Trial 1/3/22)
Jack is an 8-week-old red male cattle dog cross pup now available for adoption. Jack answers to his name and has started to learn basic commands like wait and sit. He is a typical puppy with lots of energy and playfulness. Toilet training is going well and Jack prefers to go outside.
Jack is a friendly, happy boy who gets on really well with people, including children, and dog friends alike. Jack loves being outside, does not bark very often and has an easy-going nature. He enjoys games but loves a cuddle and is very affectionate.
Jack does have special needs, as he was the littlest of his litter and born with one eye smaller than the other. This small eye has limited vision but it does not hold Jack back from playing tug of war and chase with his brother Billy, or interacting with his foster family. He is resilient and getting stronger each day. Jack may eventually lose all vision in his small eye.
Jack is not suited to apartments or courtyards as he will grow to be a medium sized dog (but not large) so will need plenty of space. He will need good fencing with no small gaps. His ideal family will have had experience with working dog breeds.
The Australian Cattle Dog is an extremely intelligent, highly trainable, active, and sturdy dog breed. They are loyal and protective of their families. Besides herding work, they do well at canine sports, including agility, obedience and flying disc competitions. These dogs need a lot of mental and physical activity to stay happy and healthy, and to prevent bored, destructive behaviour. If you have a home with plenty of room to run, and can provide plenty of activity, Jack may be the pup for you!
We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training to ensure proper boundaries and routines are established. This will ensure that you get the best family member/friend possible.
As Jack is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to a local vet for desexing when he is approximately 5/6 months old. He will also need his final vaccine. Please NO out of area applications.
For more information about Jack, please contact his foster carer on their email ann.drn21@gmail.com Jack is in foster care in Kilaben Bay, NSW and is not available for adoption interstate. Jack’s adoption fee is $700 and he is vaccinated (first shot), treated for fleas and worms and microchipped.
