About Ruby
I was surrendered to Lort Smith recently as my owner was unable to continue providing me with the care and time that I so desperately need.
Let me start off by saying, that I have an exuberant amount of energy to burn, so my ideal family would be one that can provide me with high amounts of daily activity, play, mental stimulation, and take me to one-on-one training classes, so I can build upon my already learnt skills, and gain some much-needed confidence.
My absolute favourite game to play is fetch. I would do anything to be able to chase after a ball across a yard!
For now, it would be best that I am the only animal in the home, as my new owners will need to focus on my training and behaviour modification. I do however, get along well with other dogs, so it would be wonderful if I was able to have another well-known canine friend from another household to regularly socialise with.
I would also prefer an adult only home that is on the quieter side, as I tend to get a little over stimulated and anxious when there is too much noise and activity.
During my time at Lort Smith, that staff have noted that I do have generalised anxiety. This means I can be quite a worried girl, so a home where my new owners can help me work on building up my confidence would be wonderful.
In my previous home, I was diagnosed with chronic skin disease. This is something that will need to be managed ongoing.
My skin management plan involves medicated baths, monthly medications, a strict prescription diet and injections which my handlers will need to be aware of. The lovely staff that look after me will be more than happy to go through these in further detail with you, and answer any questions that you may have.
If you think I might be the perfect companion for you and you can help me on my journey of bettering myself, please fill out an expression of interest form in as much detail as possible and I'll have my people, call your people!
