About Princess (on trial 12 July 2022)
Who's the coolest? It's Princess. She's confident, friendly, playful, inquisitive, and will only occasionally try to eat you.
Princess was abandoned with her babies before being rescued by Dog Rescue Newcastle. The fact that she was able to bring up four gorgeous, well-adjusted, rambunctious kittens on the street is a testament to just how strong this Mum truly is. Princess is now looking for her own forever home, where she can be the love of your life and play like a kitten all day.
Princess is a confident cat, who loves to play parkour on her foster family's furniture and dart in and out of her cat tunnels. She is a big personality, who loves to chat with her humans and any guests who might be willing to engage. She is a friendly girl, however, building confidence in a new home takes time. Princess accepts full-body pats, but this affection must only be on her terms. She can at times give little love bites, which her foster Mum finds adorable but can be a little unusual in people who have little experience in cat behaviour. Therefore, new owners must have experience reading cat body language or a willingness to learn! Lots of positive interactions will help build trust, so using plenty of positive (food rewards!) reinforcement will help her bond with her new owners in her new home!
Princess will need a safe room and a slow transition to her new home environment to ensure she does not become too overwhelmed. Her new home should ideally be calm and quiet with plenty of routine and stability as this will help her feel safe, become comfortable and develop her confidence. She is independent but does like to know her humans are home so that they can attend to her food bowl as soon as it starts showing any signs of emptiness.
At this stage, a home without another cat is preferable. She loves her own space and currently doesn't want to share her affections while adjusting to the pampered life. Princess may be okay with a male cat or a kitten with a slow introduction.
Princess is immaculately clean and, being the regal queen she is, takes the utmost care when grooming herself or her foster Mum. She is an absolute lady when using her litter box and keeps herself clean and well-presented. She has a great appetite and is not in the slightest fussy - may we suggest to not turn your back around Princess and any unattended food? Cos this girl is gonna get it. Princess comes fully vet-worked (desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worming treatments) which is all included in her $125 adoption fee.
Princess is an indoor-only cat unless you have a secure outdoor enclosure or would like to train her on a lead. She is currently living in Wallsend and is looking forward to meeting her new family.
