ScottBoland is one of the most beautiful Collies you will ever meet, he’s a real head turner. His coat is stunning but expect to need to brush him regularly and hose him off after beach walks as he does have sensitive skin (arrived with an allergy but this seems to have resolved).
At home he is a real cuddler and believes he is a lap dog. He has obviously been allowed on furniture in the past. He will sleep in his own bed (or generally cold floor tiles in summer) but expect him to jump in with you when the sun rises and he’s ready for his morning walk. He is fully house trained, can stay inside or outside by day, but likes to be in with his humans at night. In the past, ScottBoland has been possessive of his owner and growled at the children to stay away. He is friendly with all ages when out in public but will not be rehomed in a household with small children.
ScottBoland needs a long walk every morning, and evening too if you can. He will play ball for hours and likes his cuddly toy in the evening before bed. He does not have a lot of manners on walks. He pulls very hard on the lead so needs a strong owner, and an experienced one that can continue his training. He’s an intelligent dog and has shown he can still learn in his month in foster care, but he is also very boisterous when out. Recall is good if no dogs are in sight, but if he sees a dog he will run up to it. He is friendly with some dogs but if other dogs show any aggression he will fight. Does not seem to like small fluffy dogs or racing dogs. He would not suit city life where too many dogs would be around him.
He is definitely a water dog so he’s looking for a home by the beach. He loves to chase waves and will jump into any water so you’ll need to control where he gets in as he has no fear. He will also chase birds in the garden and loves a car ride.
Good with dog savvy cats. Interested in the cows but made no attempt to approach them. Gets on well with foster brother and sister- submissive to dominant male in the house, plays ball with the younger female. NOT submissive when out on walks.
