About Topsy
This little girl has come a LONG way!
When she first came to Urban Kittens she was like any other kitten.
She was doing well when she started to become constipated and had trouble doing a poo.
The first thing we suspected was diet, but she was on good quality kitten food so off to the vet we went. The vet could feel some pretty hard poos in her intestines so recommended Lactulose which helped for a while.
We also tried a number of other things and finally found that boiled pumpkin seemed to work.
Topsy was adopted and went to her new home.
But the issue resurfaced and after seeing 5 different vets, she was diagnosed with an abnormal rectum. An ultrasound confirmed this and surgery was the next step. At this point her new owner decided she wasn’t able to offer Topsy the care she needed and so she was returned to us.
The surgery (including a number of follow ups) was $8000 and this was just too much for a small rescue to take on.
But then a wonderful thing happened…… We reached out to all our followers and YOU made it possible for us to give Topsy a second chance.
It’s been almost 3 months since her surgery and after a few up and downs she has made it!
Topsy still requires medication and lactulose, plus a special diet. She is used to the medication routine and is very easy to dose. We have also been slowly reducing the medication and we feel that this could continue until she hopefully doesn’t need it anymore. She also loves her food so the diet isn’t a problem either.
We think she is now ready for adoption.
Topsy will need an owner who is ideally at home most of the time and doesn’t travel a lot. Someone who will be committed to continuing her routine which will result in her having a long healthy life.
She’s a beautiful, friendly girl who likes lying on your lap or beside you on the couch. She’s still only 5 mths old so also likes to play with her human and also with other friendly cats and kittens.
A full record of her medical history can be produced and discussed with anyone who thinks they would like to give Topsy a permanent home.
She is a very much loved foster kittens here at Urban Kittens and we only want the best for her ❤️
Topsy is special to us at Urban Kittens.
Preference will be given to potential adoptees with indoor only or indoor/outdoor enclosure or safe yard applications. We are happy to discuss this further with you and talk about ways to make your outdoor areas safe for this new bundle of love.
Topsy is located in Kingsford NSW
