About Sarge - 2 yr Red Heeler ~ (On Trial 9/06/22)
PLEASE NOTE: Dog Rescue Newcastle provide individual listings specific to each foster dog that comes through our doors. Each listing outlines the specific requirements, and home that we are looking for. Should you submit an application OR inquiry and NOT receive a response within 5 business days (Monday-Friday), please understand that you have not met the specific requirements of the foster carer and will not be proceeding to the next stage. Please do not be disheartened or discouraged if you do not receive a reply, this simply means you were not a suitable match at this time. Dog Rescue Newcastle reserve the right to not reply to unsuitable applicants and will not tolerate bullying, intimidation or harassment of our volunteers
Sarge is a lovely natured young Red Heeler (Cattle Dog). As you tell by his pictures this boy is incredibly handsome and Cattle Dog fans will love him !
Sarge is affectionate through play. He loves his cuddles with adults and being told he is the goodest boy ever. He is generally a very relaxed dog and loves to be in eyesight of you for hours at a time, he just wants to please you.
Sarge can get excited quickly too which may make him a good match for an active home - perhaps one with a jogger? He loves short-stints of playing tug-o-war and etch - before moving on to chilling out and being your companion.
Sarge has come from a rural lifestyle where he’s had room to run around . He may suit a fenced hobby farm or acreage lifestyle , or a largish suburban yard as long as he can enjoy daily walks. He can be a little reactive on lead which is quite common so he will need a home where further training is on the agenda. He’s used to being outside so will he will also need some house training to help him settle in to his new home.
Sarge has lived with a young family so he can be good with kids he knows well - he will listen to a male more than a female owner but generally loves adults most. He may suit an older, experience couple or single person who understands the nuances of the heeler / cattle dog breed - not first time dog owners. If there are teenagers in the house they are best over 16 years who are dog savvy and behave respectfully with him. No babies or toddlers please.
Sarge is an average size red heeler - but is probably a bit on the puffier side (Christmas COVID weight!). He would suit a friendly, well mannered female dog or be quite fine as a solo dog where he can be his human’s focus.
To find out more about this handsome fellow please email Jo at rescuepooch75@gmail.com . Sarge is located near Whitebridge in the Newcastle area.
To start the adoption process, first fill out an adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
PLEASE NOTE: When applying for our dogs and puppies, please ensure to list the name of the dog you wish to adopt. Please do NOT just list the reference number or the microchip number as this will delay your application reaching the correct foster carer.
Sarge’s adoption fee is $500. This includes desexing, vaccinations, microchipping and flea, worm and tick treatment.
Medical notes
Sarge is an assisted adoption coming into foster care. He will be desexed and vaccinated prior to adoption.
