About Choc (Was Atticus)
** Choc has already been transported to Perth, so please only Perth or southern region applications **
You must be thinking how did this big beautiful dog end up in rescue? We thought the same thing when we met big Chocolicious.
Choc is not like our other Pilbara specials - being a pure bred XL American Bully he is a bit more fancy than our usual little mixed breeds. Unfortunately for Choc, his previous owners found his large size to be overwhelming and claimed he was hard to control, which is why he was surrendered over to SAFE.
Apart from occasionally jumping when excited or pulling the lead with his 30+ kg body there is not really anything else that makes Choc a difficult dog.
We sometimes think poor Choc is actually too nice for his own good; often letting his foster friends bully him around. He never reacts nor shows aggression to the many dogs that have come and gone in his time in foster. Some dogs feel intimidated by his large body, but Choc will still try his hardest to initiate play with them.
Choc has 3 favourite things in life - playing with other dogs, running and exploring off lead (out bush or at the dog park) and most importantly playing in water - whether it be shell pools, sprinklers or in the hose water. Anywhere he has the opportunity to make a splash, there will be no stopping him.
Choc is toilet trained, and if given opportunities to get out on the grass/soil throughout the day he will not have any toilet issues.
We would be really pleased to see Choc attend some training/obedience classes with his new family. Not because he has any issues but because he is still young and very large, so we would like to ensure his family learn the correct ways in training him and ensuring they feel they have control over him.
In saying this, the family Choc goes to will need to be active, fit and relatively strong.
Please note: Choc is only 7months old and will grow larger. He could be anywhere between 50-80kg.
If you feel you have what it takes to give Choc a loving home, please fill out the below form with as much detail as possible. Please remember people that provide lots of information and attach photos have better outcomes with their applications.
