*cleo is currently trialling her new home* oh cleo why the long face??? is that your “please adopt me” look or is it because you’re a basset hound cross and tend to naturally look a bit sad??? whichever it is we’re sure this gorgeous pup will find her perfect forever home soon and then she’ll be all smiles!!!

cleo and her sister were dumped in our local pound and when her sister was adopted cleo was left behind so knew we had to step in and save this little sweetie. Cleo has such a lovely, soft, gentle nature she wouldn’t hurt a fly. She is learning how to walk on a lead and she’ll also be learning the basics such as “sit” and “down” while she’s in foster care. As cleo is still a puppy she will require ongoing obedience training so she grows up to have lovely manners. Daily walks, secure fencing and toys to keep her stimulated are also a necessity so she doesn’t get bored. Cleo will also benefit from ongoing socialisation with other dogs. Basset hounds are usually a large dog on short, stumpy legs weighing from 20-29kgs when fully grown but only a foot in height to the withers. They are 2nd only to the bloodhound with their sense of smell and shouldn’t be allowed off leash unless they’re in a safe place as once they’re onto a scent there’s no stopping them! the basset hound is sweet, gentle, devoted, peaceful and naturally well-behaved. They fit into family life well and are affectionate and especially friendly with children. Basset hounds can be a bit stubborn with meek owners and need a firm, confident, and consistent owner who displays natural leadership skills. Bassets also like to do tricks for food but don’t overfeed them!

cleo would be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle with either a doggie companion to learn from or on her own if she won’t be left alone for long periods of time especially while she’s a pup.
