About Nalu
In rescue you come across a lot of things that touch your heart. This is one of those times.
Meet Nalu
This little guy has gone through so much in his short life but he still constantly smiles and enjoys what life has to offer. His struggles began only days after being born when his mum shook his little body. At 11 days old Nalu and his 5 siblings (N Litter) arrived into foster care for their own safety. With a visit to the vet it was revealed he had swelling on the brain and as a result from being shaken his head was turned to the left and when he moved he only went in circles towards the left and fell over frequently. As he got older his siblings repeatedly bullied him leaving marks on his body causing him to be seperated from them for periods of time. In one of his playtime’s with his siblings he got a scratch on his eye turning it blue and we were worried he may loose his sight. At the same time he got a skin infection which resulted in his fur and top layers of skin peeling off his feet, legs and face. But through all of this he was still super playful and loved everyone he met.
Skip forward to now and you wouldn’t believe Nalu is the same pup!
Although he is now healthy, Nalu does still have some lingering affects from being shaken. When running or walking he does tend to go towards the right and occasionally will fall over. He is also partially hearing impaired but is working on hand signals and can already do sit. His eye looks to have healed extremely well with no after effects.
This little guy is a fighter and has gone from strength to strength and doesn’t let anything get him down.
This is just one example of the amazing work out foster carers do by loving dogs that enter our care for whatever reason they may be. There were times where we weren’t sure what his future will hold and it turns out he can still have a amazing one as a “special needs” little guy. None of Nalu’s lingering effects hold him back, it’s more just things to be aware of with this special little guy. He isn’t lacking in socialisation at all, he is a happy go lucky little pup who deserves the absolute best of the best future home.
If you want to adopt Nalu you need to ensure you can give him what he needs in life to continue to excel even with the lingering affects he has. You will also need to ensure you have the time to continue his hand signal training, and to keep up his socialisation/ exposure to as much as possible.
And also please remember that he is a puppy with puppy behaviours!!
