About Belle
Belle has been a great companion for her foster carer during lockdown. She is sweet and attentive. Belle loves her tummy rums when chilling on her bed, reminding her foster carer with a gentle tap with her paw that you can keep going, no need to stop.
Belle is doing well in apartment but would also enjoy a yard to do her zoomies.
Belle has been left home alone for a few hours without much drama. She's happy if you leave her a Kong or other activity to distract her when you go and you will have an excited greeting when you get home. When at home Belle will always want to be at your side. Maybe have a bed for her under your desk if you work from home. Take your shoes off and your get a foot warmer and she gets some more tummy rums. Win win.
Belle is toilet trained and knows the house rules but can be a little too interested in your dinner too. Some supervision with food is advisable.
Belle is comfortable meeting dogs her size or a bit smaller. She is still trying to work out what those little jumpy fluffy things are.
Some more exposure to other dogs would be good in her new home.
Belle lives up to her name, a loving, caring, cheeky and funny girl to brighten every day.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
