About Buddy Boy
**** Foster Carer Wanted *****
Buddy Boy was dumped at a worksite as a kitten and was adopted as the workplace cat when the staff couldn't find rescue placement for him. He came into Cat People of Melbourne when he got very ill, and he was diagnosed with megacolon. Megacolon is a very unpleasant condition and can kill cats, Buddy was lucky that it was caught in time. For more information about megacolon, this article explains it well. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/megacolon-in-cats
Buddy Boy has not let his poopy disability stop him from living a full and happy life in foster care. He loves pats and will come and ask for them, and if that doesn't work he'll throw himself on his back and beg for tummy rubs. Buddy Boy is disgustingly handsome and could do with regular brushing. He does his best to keep himself tidy despite the poopy issue, but sometimes needs some assistance with a pet friendly wet wipe on his bottom... and no he doesn't enjoy being wiped up. That's when you find out how strong he is!
Buddy has the look and a lot of the characteristics of the Maine Coon breed. Handsome with a fluffy ruff of fur, eats with his paws, very strong and very large paws for his size. If he hadn't had such a rough start and a chronic health condition, we believe he would be a much bigger cat. He really is a sweetheart!
We're looking for a special foster carer for Buddy Boy. We've consulted various vets and he's now got a diagnosis of ""rectal pocket"" which is a vast improvement on how he was. We're hoping there is some treatment or surgery that can give him the ability to eat raw / normal cat food and give him that extra quality of life that he so richly deserves. But where he is now may be as good at it gets... we just don't know yet. All we can do is try for him. Which means whoever takes on his care will also be taking him to consults with specialist vets. It's all part of the brief!
So if you're not bothered by poop, can wrestle cats, have no problem giving medication (all Buddy's goes in his food), and like a friendly social cat... we have the boy for you! Submit an enquiry now to meet him, he is a wonderful purrsonality!
Buddy Boy has been reasonably stable on a diet of Hills Science Diet i/d food (prescription food for cats with digestive issues), along with Movicol Junior as a stool softener and Megacolon herbs to help motility through the gut. Buddy Boy is a healthy prescription fed cat who has been wormed, flea treated, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped (microchip #956000013005378, source #RE101165). He is available right now!
