About Juniper
Introducing Juniper!
This boy is already turning heads with his good looks and you can tell he is destined to be a stunner when he matures. Juniper is a very affectionate puppy and thoroughly enjoys being around his people. Don’t tell anyone, but behind his bravado he is a massive sook and sweetheart who loves his cuddle time. Juniper is more than willing to jump in the car with you (he travels amazingly) and go on adventures. He loves all people and meeting new people friends. When he has met some children, he has seemed to quite like them. Juniper has a great sense of smell and loves to use his nose to check out his surroundings.
Juniper is a confident and outgoing individual, which is great as he is not a needy puppy, but it will also mean he is likely to push the boundaries, particularly during adolescence. He will require a home with structure and boundaries and an owner who has experience dealing with large confident dogs. Juniper is likely to be a good watch dog around the home and alert you to anything suspicious. He is expected to be a large dog (35kg+) so will do a good job at deterring any unwanted visitors just by his size, even if it is just that pesky possum in the backyard!
During his time in care, Juniper has been living with a number of other large dogs. He is great with them and enjoys a play. Despite his young age, he is showing to already be more dominant over smaller dogs so will need some impulse control training and structured socialisation to brush up on his manners around little dogs. Juniper is expected to have moderate energy levels as he matures and will require a substantial daily walk and mental stimulation (nose works and scent-based activities would be great!).
Juniper has been learning some basics while in foster care like sit, how to walk on a lead, bite inhibition and toilet training; however, this is still a work in progress and his new family must be committed to his ongoing training and socialisation. This will need to be significantly more than puppy school classes. It would be highly beneficial for him to attend dog obedience classes with is new owner throughout the first year or two of his life. When going out on the lead he can be stubborn and lie down at first but once he gets going, he is doing well.
We are looking for a large dog experienced home with above average experience for Juniper. It will be important that rules and boundaries are kept in place for him and as such he would be better suited to an adult only home but very capable older teenagers may be ok. He will need a home with another large playful but well behaved dog or where someone is home more often than not. Juniper should be allowed to spend time inside with the family and to sleep inside at night. He is not suitable to live with young children, cats or pocket pets as he has shown a tendency to chase. He is also not suitable for apartment living.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
