About Buxus
Buxus is a striking looking pup who is going to turn into a very handsome dog when he grows into those lanky legs. He is a playful boy who loves toys, particularly playing tug of war. He also has a curious nature which means he enjoys exploring the garden and interesting smells. Buxus is not really a cuddler and let’s face it, he will quickly outgrow your lap anyway, but he does enjoy interacting with his foster carers when its time to play or do some training.
Buxus is relatively independent and enjoys making his own fun which probably comes from his unusual start in life. He and his littermates were found in bushland in far western NSW and he had had very little exposure to people before being rescued and coming into our care. Buxus has been making lots of positive progress but still finds meeting new people quite intimidating. He prefers to keep his distance and approach at his own pace. His doggy foster brother has been showing him that new people are good and often sources of yummy treats, but he will need further confidence building and positive exposure.
Being food and toy motivated makes this pup a joy to train. He is smart and has picked up basic obedience like sit, drop, stay very quickly and has even started learning some tricks. Buxus does need continual support with his toilet training to avoid accidents and break the habit of soiling his bedding but he is responding well to toileting on a cue. He is crate trained and generally travels well in the car. Like any young pup, he will require a family who are committed to his ongoing training and socialisation; however, Buxus will need a home with above average experience and the willingness to work with a trainer to ensure that he continues to build his confidence with new people and in new environments. The work that his new owners put in (or don’t) will have a direct impact on what he will be when he is an adult dog.
Buxus enjoys the company of other dogs and loves to play with them. He particularly enjoys rumbling and playing bitey face games. He really needs a home with another dog who is going to be a play mate but also who can be a suitable role model. Such a dog would have no anxiety or fear issues and be calmly confident and friendly with meeting new people. Buxus will be a large dog when fully grown (around 30kg – give or take a number of kilos as lets be honest we are all guessing!) and will require moderate or higher amounts of exercise on a regular basis.
We are looking for an experienced home for Buxus where he will be a part of the family and receive the training and socialisation he needs. He will ideally need another suitable dog in the home as outlined above and should be allowed inside to be with the family and to sleep at night. He has not had any exposure to other types of animals or children. Considering his shy nature, we are looking for an adult only home in a quieter area. Buxus is not suitable for inner city or apartment living as he will need a yard for him and his doggy playmate to stretch their legs in.
If you feel you can give this boy a wonderful home, then please complete a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website and give us some detail about your experience and current dog.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
