About Brie
Wolfhound x Ridgeback
11 kilos
Brie is an adorable 13 week old whirlwind of mischief, cheekiness, endless energy and pure love
Brie is a truly beautiful girl with her big brown eyes, rich caramel coloured smooth coat and a tail that never stops wagging. She is smart, eager to please and is a great snuggle buddy on the couch - but you are going to have to work hard to earn that quiet cuddle time! Brie is a pup with a very high energy level - she is not a pup who will be satisfied with a short walk around the block each day and then left to her own devices in the backyard for the rest of the day. Her foster home has three energetic adult dogs and she keeps up with them with no problems. Because she’s still a baby, she has an excitable and busy mind and a love for making mischief. In the right home, she will delight her new family with her playful antics and love of cuddles.
SOCIALIZATION
Brie just loves her foster brothers and sister, especially her young and playful blue heeler brother who is very tolerant and shares Brie’s love of playing. They play endless games of bitey-face, tug of war, and chasey. She is still learning her doggy manners and doesn’t always get it right when respecting other dogs’ personal space and trying to join in with games the other dogs are already playing - but she is very good humored about being told off and will simply sit aside for a moment and wait for a chance to try again.
Brie has been fostered with three very confident cats - she loves them very much although the love is definitely not reciprocated. She will bark and bounce around the cats with pure delight and with no intention of hurting them; in return, the cats may be bothered enough to open one eye and glare at her or give her a lazy swipe with a paw which will usually send her running. She will then ignore the cats for the rest of the day and the cycle will repeat the next day when she seems to have forgotten she’s ever seen a cat before. For this reason, a home with no cats or with very confident cats would be best for Brie.
Brie is a very bright girl who picked up the “sit” command on Day 1. She sits whenever she is hesitant in a new situation and sits patiently for her food. She has had some lessons in “drop” and “wait” and with more consistent training, will develop into a beautifully mannered girl who will be a pleasure to take anywhere. Brie has been mostly walked off lead in paddocks near her foster home - she never wanders far from her foster carer or the bigger dogs, (in fact she’s usually right under their feet or running alongside their shoulders) and immediately comes when called. She has recently started walking on a lead around the neighborhood streets and has shown herself to be a lovely walking companion. She is still getting used to the lead around her neck and will sit and refuse to move if she feels pressure on the lead to move forward but this will continue to improve as she gets used to the feel of it. Brie expresses the usual excited puppy exuberance when she sees other dogs out on her walk, but again she is happy to move on once she’s had a look at them and they’ve passed by.
At night she sleeps inside in her crate, and while she might whine for a few minutes before she goes to sleep, she generally sleeps from 10pm - 6:30am without needing to go to the toilet. She is not fully house trained yet
Brie is an absolutely delightful young dog who has brought so much joy and laughter to her foster home. She will be a perfect fit for many families. Brie would love to be in a home with a playful, tolerant and stable male dog with a similar energy level to hers, although she would also suit a single dog home where she can enjoy all the attention, provided she has lots of physical and mental stimulation each day
