About Xena
Could Xena be your new furry family member?
Xena is a quiet little lady who is looking for a nice calm home where she can come out of her shell and let her sweet nature truly shine. She can be shy at first, but once she decides you are worthy of her trust, she will become your little shadow and cosy couch companion.
She can take a little longer to warm up to men, but she gets there eventually. However, noisy kids would have her running for cover, so a quiet adult home would best suit this lovely girl.
She has been hanging out in foster care with a calm, senior male dog, and having him around has helped her with her nervousness around new people. She would enjoy the company of a nice calm doggo in her new home, to show her the ropes and help her confidence. Her future home would be an adult household or a family with teenage kids.
Xena hasn't experienced the big wide world before and will need patience and gentle encouragement to appreciate the joys of walking on a lead. She is currently on medication to help her cope with the anxiety of such a big change in her life; this may need to be continued until she has settled into her new life with you and grown in confidence.
Surprisingly for such a quiet girl, she isn't at all bothered by loud noises like fireworks or vacuum cleaners, and she's not much of a barker at all. She is an absolute darling and she is just looking for someone special to bring out the best in her.
She really will be a wonderful companion to the right new owner, she has so much love to give and will make someone very happy for the rest of her life.
**Application Process**
When on the Pet Rescue profile push the "enquire about this pet" button.
Follow the prompts to "send enquiry now" and in the message section please place information about the home you can provide. Include current/past pets and their breed, children including ages that live with you or visit, and any other information relevant to training/exercise/energy requirements.
The information you provide helps us match the dog you've applied for to the most suitable home. We use this information in lieu of an application form. We do not take applications for dogs over the phone. We aim to reply to all applications within 5 business days. All of our dog meet and greets occur at the adoption centre in Craigieburn.
The majority of our dogs are in a foster home not at the shelter so you need to apply via the website to meet them. Thank you.
