Chester

Chester is a small dog weighing about 7 kg and is about a year old.

When changing carers he is quite timid and nervous, but over time Chester slowly starts to let his carers give him affection.

He is a sweet boy who seems to prefer women, and he has a loyal and protective nature. Within a family he picks the woman as his favorite human, sometimes warning male family members from getting too close by lightly growling at them. However if they offer their hand to Chester for sniffing, he will stop growling and then lick the offered hand. The whole time he has been in SAFE care he has never bitten anyone and has made peace with men living in the home. He barks at strangers that come to the door, while choosing to stay close to his carer. He does not like being left alone in the house and howls sadly as soon as he is alone.

During the day he likes curling up close to his carer, following her wherever she goes. He guards her door when she is in the bathroom, and watches her when she's out gardening.

Chester may be best suited to a woman who lives alone and is a home body. If he cannot heal from his anxiety then he can still have a quality life in a home that doesn’t trigger his anxiety. We believe there is a match for him in someone who has much love to give and receive from a faithful companion.

He is learning to walk nicely, but does best on low-traffic, quiet routes. He takes two half-hour long walks everyday. He has a good appetite and happily eats kibble and wet dog food. He is toilet trained and consistently prefers to poop and pee on dirt or grass.
