About Bindi
Bindi is a sweet, loving, playful, happy Kelpie girl, with the cutest “Flying Nun” ears you’ve ever seen.
Bindi was initially very timid, however with patience and consistency her true personality is starting to shine. This darling young girl was a teenage mum, but is actually just a cheeky puppy herself, and is finally getting to enjoy being a beloved pet.
Bindi is a fit, active and agile young lass, who wants to please you, and give and receive as much love as possible. Bindi has learnt to travel beautifully in the car. She loves swimming and playing with toys. She can entertain herself with her toys if no one is willing to play with her, which has made her foster carer laugh out loud on several occasions… but you might want to keep your shoes out of reach!
She is social with other dogs, while still being able to establish boundaries. Being true to her breed’s innate drive, she likes to herd dogs that chase balls, so she will need understanding playmates and a consistent, yet gentle approach to setting boundaries.
Bindi would suit either being an only dog, provided she gets enough mental and physical stimulation, or live happily with the right canine companion. She can be a little greedy for all of your attention, so any other resident dog(s) will need to be easy going and tolerant of this, while also being willing to play games of tug, wrestling, chasey and bitey-face.
However, Bindi is not extremely high energy, and she’s loves a good nap in a comfy dog bed. Having had her outings and playtime, she is quite happy to spend the rest of the day snoozing. She sleeps inside through the night on one of the dogs beds. She is house trained, and uses a doggy door.
Her perfect match will be someone/a family who treats her with kindness and understanding the rest of her days. She will need a home where someone is home more often than not, at least until she settles in (another dog may help with this, provided they’re well matched). A home without cats, chickens or pocket pets would be best suited, given Bindi’s tendency to fixate on the pet rodents in her foster home when given the chance, and her love of chasing birds.
Bindi will need patience, time and lots of love to help her transition to a new environment and family at her own pace, but once you have gained her trust, by continuing with kind and positive training, giving her stability and consistency, she will reward you with the devoted, unconditional love such that only a Kelpie can give.
