About Alfie rsta005673
Alfie is a gorgeous boy who has been through the wars and come out a winner! Alfie came to us needing major dental work and with serious damage to his right eye, which unfortunately could not be saved so has been removed. Both of these issues would have been causing him a lot of discomfort and pain, but he is an absolute trouper and taken it all on the chin.
Alfie has won many hearts here and we will be sad to see him go but delighted he will have his own loving home for the rest of his life. Once comfortable you will find he is affectionate, friendly, playful and loves a nap to snooze on. Alfie must be your one and only as he does not like his fellow felines,
He is FIV+ he must also be indoors only or better yet in a home with a secure enclosure, this is for his own safety and the safety of other cats in the area.
About FIV in Cats –
FIV cats live many years without any health problems. FIV cannot be transmitted to humans, dogs or other pets. FIV can only be transmitted to other cats through deep blood-drawing bite wounds. Being indoors only and having access to a cat run will reduce any possibility of him being attacked or fighting with another cat.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open 10am-4pm Mon-Thur 10am-4pm / Fri 10am-6pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
