Ragna

6-year-old greyhound boy Ragna is looking for the perfect people to complete his rags-to-riches journey from the racing kennels to forever home.

Ragna is a friendly boy who loves people and pats. He just wants to be adored and to adore you in return. He loves playing ‘find it’, squeaky tennis balls, people watching, and peanut butter or liver treats. He’s a healthy boy who loves his fruit and goes WILD for banana and mango.

Ragna enjoys nice, slow walks with lots of time for sniffing. He walks well when both his foster carers are along for the adventure, or with other dogs. At times the world is over-whelming and Ragna is prone to a typical greyhound ‘freeze’. His foster carers always bring lots of tasty treats on walks and are Ragna is learning ‘touch’ and ‘watch me’ cues to help with encouragement on walks. Ragna has been socialised with a couple of greyhound friends and also spent some time with smaller breeds too. He could go to a forever home with another resident greyhound or large or medium breed dog, pending introductions, but is also happy as an only dog with all of his humans attention.

All greyhounds have a quirk and Ragna’s is a penchant for collecting and chewing on Tupperware lids and kitchen utensils. A heads up: this cheeky boy was once found snuggling up to a kitchen knife in his bed, so very important to keep anything sharp and shiny out of reach! Ragna is an opportunist if yummy human food is left unattended but is learning to ‘leave it’ and relax on his bed.

Ragna has been left home alone for up to 7 hours and while he loves human company and would ideally go to a home with people who are around more often than not, he could potentially go to a home with full-time workers provided they have some time to help him settle in and build his time home alone, and give him lots of attention and love outside of work hours.

Ragna loves a big, deep sleep in his favourite spots. Ragna had some sleep startle when he first arrived in care, but this is reducing over time. His new home will remember to call his name gently before waking him up or interacting with him when resting.
