About Ash
If you are interested in Ash or any of our Greyhounds then please fill in our adoption form; https://www.hounds-in-homes.com/adoptionform
Meet Ash, our beautiful stunning blue boy! age 3 years old. Ash is perfect in every way, with only one behaviour that needs management, so the right owner, living in the right environment is crucial for Ash.
Before you read on, please answer this question? What do you know about sleep startle? and does it phase you? How do you set up your home for a beautiful boy who feels unsafe and insecure during sleep time?
Ash does not have sleep grumbles all the time, it seems to be when he is really really tired and usually just before bedtime.
Believe me there is nothing aggressive about this boy, he just grumbles and growls when he is disturbed, especially when he is tired, a very common greyhound trait. Ash has been in foster care for about 5 months now and we all adore and understand him. We all love him, especially his wonderful carer’s Carol and Jack.
Ash is a gentle boy who loves the quiet life, he is chilled and relaxed and such a gentleman in the home. He never tries to get on the lounge or beds. He gets on well with all dogs, especially other greyhounds. Ash isn’t high energy in the home, he has the best manners, perfectly trained, including toilet trained.
Ash knows where his bed and Blankie is and he will settle there while you go about your business, with either work or housework (We have found a screen placed in front of his bed helps him feel more secure and he startles less)
Ash likes his Garden and will potter around with his friends and have the occasional Zoomie with his greyhound friends. Ash has Zero aggression to other dogs.
Walking Ash is a dream, he walks slow and close to your left side. You don’t even feel like you are walking a dog, he never pulls and never reacts to other dogs passing by. He is probably one of the easiest greyhounds we have ever had to walk.
Ash has no food aggression, with his humans or other dogs.
Ash would suit a home with another greyhound and with an experienced greyhound owner who knows how to handle his unease based around sleep.
Ash Sleeps through the night and once he is asleep you don’t hear from him until morning, where he will sometimes let you know, he needs to go out for the toilet.
If you would like to chat about this special boy and want to discuss management with his unease around falling asleep, please feel free to apply and we will give you a call.
Ash’s new owners need to be:
- Experienced with greyhounds OR dogs with sleep issues.
- A quiet life, relaxed home.
- No sofa sleeping (He must have his own space)
- He would suit a retired person or couple, who understands his sleep issues and who are able to ignore him when he grumbles.
- Another greyhound or dog would help Ash, he is fantastic with other dogs.
