About Matilda ~ 15mo Kelpie X(On Trial 10/2/22)
Introducing Matilda (more affectionately known as Tilly), she is a 15month old female Kelpie X who is just bursting with love to give! She has a zest for life and cannot wait to meet someone who will allow her to explore by their side.
Tilly is considered small for her breed, but as they say, ‘the best things come in small packages’. Despite size and considering herself a lap dog, she can keep up with all the quickest dogs at the beach, and loves to play wrestle with her friends.
Tilly is a friend to all, is absolutely adorable and just the sweetest little thing. She currently lives with a family that have primary school aged children, a cat, an oversized puppy and three chickens, and she has fit in beautifully. She has been introduced to smaller children but can be a bit too loving for the average toddler to enjoy, so her preferred family would have children 6+.
During her stay with her foster family, she has had the opportunity to go to the beach, walks and visit family and friends with other animals and children, she has passed the test every time. While she loves to be out and about, meeting new friends and exploring, being on a lead is all new to her and she would benefit from more training in this area. Once lead trained she would make a fantastic walking or jogging companion as she doesn’t ever appear to get tired!
Tilly would suit either being a single or two dog family in the right circumstances. She loves having a companion currently as it gives her someone to run and play with when her two-legged friends are busy, however given a choice it’s the two-legged friends she loves the most. She showed minor signs of being jealous when she was not the one getting the pats early on with her foster family, so any preexisting dog would need to be chilled out and not the jealous type to allow her to settle in and realise it isn’t a competition.
Tilly’s has been doing some basic training and Tilly is learning quickly. She will do anything to impress for food and treats. While she is obsessed with food and eats quickly, she doesn’t guard it from people or other animals. She has only recently been toilet trained so would require further reinforcement with regular toilet trips to really hone this skill. She very rarely barks at things, and is working on not jumping up at people and licking their faces. As is common for her breed, she is an excellent jumper and as a precaution would require a secure yard with 6ft fencing.
Tilly has completed all vet work, including being desexed, fully vaccinated and microchipped. She is all ready for the perfect family to adopt her. FYI, her foster family can’t keep her too much longer or they may never let her go!
