On Hold
About Penelope (Penny)- (on trial 3/1/22)
Penny was rescued all the way from Moree pound with her Mum and three sisters.
She was very timid upon arrival but is blossoming in care!
Penny loves to be close by to a human. She likes to be in the same room and able to see you. If you leave the room, she will follow looking for you. She loves a pat but prefers not to be picked up and carried around. If you stop patting her and she wants more attention she will let you know by meowing and reaching for your hand. When she is tired, she will seek out a quiet darker spot to curl up, usually behind the lounge.
Penny loves shiny toys and soft small balls that are easy for her to push and chase on the floor.
She loves play time with her human or wrestling her sister.
Penny is still building her confidence and can still startle easily. She lives with three children at the moment and if things are loud or she is chased, she will run and hide.
Penny is best suited to a quiet home. She is currently living with a 1-year-old cat who does not like her at all, but she is not bothered by the cats hissing at all! Penny will hide from her, so would be best suited to a home without another cat, or if there is a cat, will require a slow introduction.
There is an outdoor dog at their home, but Penny has not had contact with him, so are unsure how she will react to a family dog.
Penny is still learning to use the litter box, it needs to be in the same room as her at the moment, as she is having trouble finding her way back if she can’t see it and has had a couple of accidents. Penny is a great eater and is drinking well, loving her biscuits throughout the day.
Penny is an indoor cat only unless she has a cat enclosure to spend some time outdoors in.
She can only be adopted to a home in the Newcastle/Hunter/Central Coast region, so that she can be returned to a DRN affiliated vet for desexing when she is approximately 4 months old.
Her adoption fee is $250, which includes her first vaccination, microchipping, worming, flea treatment (whilst in foster care) and desexing when she is old enough.
Penny is currently in foster care Bonnells Bay.
