All About Me and My Unique Personality:
Hi, I’m Layla, and I’m a fiend for pats! I might be timid at first but once I realise that you love pat time as much as I do, I’ll be your chilled out purry new best friend. My kittens are happily grown up and weaned so now it’s my turn to find a loving forever home. I’m recovering from being desexed, and will be ready for adoption at the end of 2021.
I’m low key, gentle, and friendly. My favourite hobby is being adored: pats, head scritches, tummy rubs, being brushed, and even being picked up and carried around like a baby. If it involves human affection, I’m on board. I’ll approach friendly humans for pats and sometimes even politely meow to be picked up. I don’t like laps so far, but I enjoy hanging out on the couch leaning against your leg… you know, just in case you want to pat me. Sometimes I climb up on the bed for pats, and my carer has woken a few times to find me sleeping on the end of the bed.
I spend my days getting pats, napping, and looking out the window at birds. I can be playful sometimes, usually in the evening and at night. I like playing with small toys. My carer thinks it’s funny that I keep taking them all to my secret hiding place under the bed.
Pop quiz!
————-
* Loud noises like the vacuum cleaner? Absolutely not, I don’t do well with loud noises. Barking dogs outside are scary. The loud garbage truck is scary too. I’m fine with TV and music.
* Food? I’m super easy. I prefer dry food, and I’m not a guts - I nibble through the day. My carer saw that one brand of dry food upset my tummy, but found a different brand that’s just fine.
* Litter? I’m a gold class litter user. Zero accidents in care. I do however like to dig deeeeep, so my carer recommends a high sided litter tray.
* Scratching? I’m very well behaved. I know what cat scratching poles are for and I use them. I have not scratched furniture or carpet in care.
My Ideal Home:
My ideal home would be a quiet one with no dogs, where I can get plenty of chilled-out daily attention. A small couch-loving family would be a great fit. As I nap most of the day, I’m fine with a family that heads off to full time work, but I will need lots of human time in the evenings for example.
My forever family will need to be prepared for a patient and gentle introduction to their home, as it’s likely I will hide a lot until I get used to new people, sounds, and smells.
For my health and safety, and that of the local wildlife, I must be homed 100% indoors.
What is Known About My Background:
I was rescued as a stray from Lake Macquarie. I was very anxious when I arrived in care - then we found out why: I was pregnant! Once I realised I was safe and protected, I got to know my foster carer and get used to my foster home… then my true pat-loving nature came out and I became a bit more confident.
In October 2021 I gave birth to two very cute and healthy girls, and have been a wonderful mother to them. They’re now old enough to be weaned and are soon to be up for adoption.
I’m now resting after being desexed, and will be ready for adoption at the end of 2021.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets:
I am terrified of dogs, I hide when I hear the sound of one barking a few doors down the street.
I haven’t yet been tested with children but I have a timid nature and I’m sensitive to sudden movement and loud noises, even in familiar environments. My carer thinks I might be ok with older children in a small family.
I haven’t been tested with other cats yet but I hope to try that soon.
